I spent 40K on the draft and got absolutely nothing. I was looking to get at least one player considering I had 10th pick.
almost 1/2 a million in the tank. I could have a bought a player :(

I've had 5 star hof/mvp/superstar 18 year olds without spending big.

i've simply scouted the worse rated players to get their true current abilty and scouted the newly recovered 5 star guys and stopped there. Sure you dont get a great player every year, but it's worked for me!

What would i do with this guy? hes a MVP PG but hes 6'9 he would train way too slow , but id love to train hi, to be something idk , also i have an 18 year old Perennial Allstar PG whos 6'0 which one should i train? they both have amazing skills but which one would be my ideal trainee? heres they other guy

Sell the first guy as soon as possible and keep the second guy IMO. The first guy will draw a ton of money simply because many people right now are rookie crazy and all they see is a 4k MVP player so they probably wont take much consideration into his height. You'll easily get at least 500-800k i think.

You say that you had multiple 5 star 5 ball potential players, as your first few preferences.

And in the draft, even though you picked 16th, you still got your first preference, which would have been the guy that you set at the very top of the list..... which ended up being $4,500 salary Star potential player.

Star potential is only 3-ball in the draft if my memory serves me correctly.

and your 4th preference ends up being a role player? How many balls did this guy have? 1? 2? Why was your 4th preference a guy who only had 1 or 2 ball potential?

So im not really sure what the problem here is. If you had multiple 5 star 5 ball potential players in the draft, then you should have set them as you top preferences? Do you have a record of your draft? I always keep a screenshot of it, so i can compare later. Maybe you didnt set your draft properly?

I just quickly looked at you old league's draft, and there were 2 MVP potential and one perrenial all-star potential players in the first round. So its not like they werent in the draft, they were there, just like you said you had scouted. Something seems a miss if you had set your preferences correctly.

The problem (which has always existed in the draft) is that generally, there isn't enough talent to go around. The ABBL draft has given us trash for so many seasons now.

I can understand 2nd and 3rd round talent being average at best, but the top half of the first round should be decent pickups for most teams.

The most popular suggestion is to make 19 year olds useful. As it currently stands, half the draft is rendered useless because 19 year olds are thrown on the scrap heap. Give 19 year olds a slight skill boost (say strong/proficient) in skills and you'll see happier people.

the thing is that every player had to be trained, but not every team use a new trainee every season.

at the beginning of the game, we was happy about a lot weaker player as trainee as today since we needed to fill our trainee spots and there was few draft in the past and a lot team who didn't participate at the last draft since they just joined.

Overall i think if the draft would be generally better, we would just cut better players ;) Since there isn't so high demand for trainee to bring in 16 new guys each draft.

I think I misspoke just slightly. I had 5 star, 4 ball potential players scouted that I had atop my list, and didn't get them. If I said 5 star, 5 potential players, which I probably did, then I was wrong on that.

According to my records, I didn't get any of my top four picks in the draft. I ended up getting a player with five star, 3 potential.

Clearly, I must have the best luck when it comes to drafts thus far in my BB career.

Very first season when I joined at the end, I blindly drafted this guy in the 3rd round: (19243194). A 7 potential 18 year old with ~3500 starting salary.

The next season, when I actually spent money on the draft, I got this guy with the 13th overall pick: (20740806). 18 year old 5/4 guy, and was my first choice. And I wasn't in a league with all bots; we had I think 8 total human managers in that D5 league.

The next season I had the 16th pick, and got an 18 year old MVP potential guy with ~3500 salary. (Can't link cause he's on TL). I sold him cause I didn't have any extra space to train him. He was my 2nd overall preference.

Then this season (in D4) I had the 15th pick, and I got my 2nd overall preference. This guy (23471588), 18 year old HOF potential, ~5K salary.

Now, other than the first season, for all of them I spent probably 200-300K in scouting. Enough to do the scouting combine, and then focus on the 18 year old prospects that had the appropriate height for what I wanted to train. Looking back on most of the draft histories, the majority of teams in the divisions where I drafted got one of their first 3 preferences in the first round.

Was it risky, and did I get lucky, sure. But I personally value home drafted players a lot, and would even train up decently skilled yet lower potential guys. Well trained, with good secondaries, these type of players can be important role players for a long time, and their home drafted status will return some of their salary via merchandise.

sometimes u are lucky. sometimes u aren't. sometimes the draftpool of your league is deep. sometimes even the first pick is... not as good as he maybe should be. sometimes the draft gets you a future international player, sometimes, especially if youpick late, you get 3xbenchwarmers.

the question is: what did you expect? how much money youinvested? how much players you scouted? how much of them you invited to you trainingcamp and interviewed them? how you sorted your list - skill -potential - age? did you look at the boxscore if you had to decide between two players? and again: what did you expect???

all three have some weaknesses, but dont look that bad, i think about keep em all3 ;-)

i'm not the best manager in the bb world by far, looking at my franchise and transfer history. but the dream of playing b3 (what means winning the league or cup) with a couple of own draftees in my rotation lives on ;-)

In my first year in BB, I got two perrennial all stars without spending even one penny on the draft, and my team was 5th that season, so I got somewhere around pick #11 overall.

So to spend nearly $300K this past season on scouting, I expected to get one high potential player that would be leading my team many seasons from now. I don't feel like I got that. I got one player with star potential, then a role model and a 6th man potential.

When I say my draft was a flop, I guess it would be fair to say it was a flop compared to what I wanted or expected, but overall, I'm sure I got exactly what I deserved being the championship of the league with last pick.

More than anything, I guess I just felt like I would get better in this draft becaue I was in a league with almost all bots.

A very good idea! What's the point of generating so many draftees, if you know at least 90% will go straight to the bin. Another idea was to give each draftee at least 2, maybe 3 guaranteed years before they cap, regardless of their potential. This would mean that all players below starter potential don't get thrown away as soon as their owners see them, and the majority below 4 ball.
or even a slight bias for better draftees in higher divisions, i.e.
DV max allstar potential
DIV maz peren. allstar
DIII max superstar
DII max mvp
I think many people invest in the draft process at BB, cause it's an exciting thing in real life. They keep reminding us that BB is just a game, and therefore adheres to its own rules. But it's only because of the real game and NBA in particular that people's imagination is able to turn BB, which is basically numbers into a story.
