A preview of tonight's league action:

#2 Drunken Clams @ #8 Seattle Tsunami – How will the Clams fare without the injured Tam to anchor them in the paint? With total salaries $25k below the salary floor, the Tsunami aren't in a position to expose the difference. The only interest in this game will be how big the PD will be.

#7 Wildkatz @ #1 Clutch Mambas – The Mambas are riding high as the only remaining cup team and the top red seed. And with their sixth man earning more than the Katz's top player, it's not difficult to imagine what this outcome will look like.

#6 Deadmen @ #5 Raleigh Roughriders – The Riders will look to extend their win streak to four against Big 8 teams. Their three-headed monster of Portarena, Shuoxian, and Zaimis look set to devour the Deadmen's skeleton crew of trainees and scrubs.

#4 Dizzy Dunks @ #4 spenn – The Dunks haven't logged in for two weeks. And even if they had, they still have their initial roster, which couldn't put up much of a fight against the 8-3 team just 125 PD out of 1st.

#1 Chicago Kings Storm @ #7 Kobe Bryants All-Stars – It looks to be another lop-sided game in the works. Blake just doesn't have the talent around him developed yet to the point where he can make the impact he'd need to win this game. The King Storm's team-focused build, on the other hand, is tailor made to tear apart the star-and-scrubs setup the All-Stars run.

#8 Harbor City Storm @ #6 Linndale (TV) – Under the lights, Linndale looks prepped to run all over another team still fielding their initial roster.

#3 Springfield Storm @ #3 Big Dawgs – One good game ought to be this matchup of #3's. Big Dawgs has already shown a penchant for surprising top Big 8 teams in last week's extra-effort, home win over the Clams. But the league's highest paid starters are coming to visit. And they might have something to say as they look to make this the season that they erase the memory of Season 24's stolen championship. This one could go either way.

#5 Massachusetts Minis @ #2 Delpra – The Minis and their aging triangle offense will run up against the team with both the stingiest defense and the most expensive roster in the league tonight. Expect valiance in defeat from the Mini's seasoned vets.

Good luck to all!

Wish you'd have been here back when I was Simon. You alone keep this league active. You and that guy who likes to finish 2nd in the Finals repeatedly. :P

Recap of Tuesday:

Tuesday's games went as expected, with the biggest blow-out of the night coming in the 51-104 walloping that spenn handed out the the Dizzy Dunks.

The only real contest was at The Pit, where the Big Dawgs edged out another Big 8 team on extra effort. The biggest lead of the game actually belonged to the Storm, whose 13-0 run in the 1st put them up 21-11. But the Dawgs fought back and took a 2-point lead into the half. From there the spread remained 6 or less until, with a minute to go, it was a one-possession game favoring the Dawgs. When a jump ball went in favor of the home team, quickly followed by a Vernimmen three, the Dawgs went up by 5 and the Storm had to foul. Despite the Dawgs only going 6-10 from the foul line, the Storm could only make 3 points out of 6 quick possessions; and the game ended 89-97 in favor of the home team. The Belgian Vernimmen had his best game of the season, shooting 16-35 (46%) from the field, 6-15 (40%) 3FG, and 2-4 on FTs, on his way to putting up 40 pts, 8 asts, 6 rebs, and 1 stl.

Well hell. Now everybody knows I was referring to you. Way to be sly man...

Seriously though, it's time for you to join the D.III ranks. What better way to reward your persistence than promote you to a tougher league where the top teams can pummel you for a season or two while the young guns further develop? :)

Breaking News: "Internal Turmoil Among Upper Management at Delpra"

A failed experiment with a newly revamped roster has reportedly caused an internal strife at the organization according to sources close to the management team. After reaching the finals the previous season, Delpra management took very bold gambles in the off-season with the trading of aging, key players and the acquisition of younger talent. This was apparently not a move favored by some of the high level managers at the organization, which sources report has led to internal turmoil and ultimately the firing of staff members. Sources also believe that several starting players will be placed on the trading block.

Fans and media consider the first half of the season as a failure despite a decent 9-4 record. Coming off a great playoff run, fans were expecting the same roster with some improvements for another deep run, but instead arrived at the Google Center to see a completely changed, younger, less experienced roster heavily reliant on star guard Timothy Fuller's playmaking for offense.

After a crushing loss to the Springfield Storm on Saturday night, Delpra management announced the firing of the head coach, and the placement of an interim coach while they seek a new coach to lead the team. This has baffled many followers who blame the management rather than the coaching for the poor decision making.

"Turbulent First Half of Season for Delpra as All-Star Weekend Nears"

Superstar guard Timothy Fuller of Delpra will have a busy weekend this All-Star break as he will be participating in the 3 point contest as well as serving back-up in the All-Star game. Despite a very turbulent first half of the season, Fuller managed to lead the team to 9 victories and 4 losses with an impressive 26 pt 5 assist 5 rebound stat line reminiscent of his back to back MVP years. The future hall of famer has been avoiding any comments about the recent scandal plaguing the Delpra front office, which has resulted in a massive shift in staff and even player roster.

When asked about his views on the current situation, Fuller adeptly avoided answering the question by merely restating his commitment to the team and playing at a high level regardless of who is on the court with him.

It is no mystery that Fuller is hungrier than ever for a championship after reaching the finals last season. He will also turn 30 this coming off-season, and must feel a sense of urgency to win now rather than later. Rumors circulating that fellow All-Star center Gawron is on the trading block certainly does not help their chances to remain a contender. Delpra management appears to be pursuing a rebuilding strategy mid-season to the dismay of many disappointed fans.
