I am not arguing the point of reaching a goal. In my message, I have ignored "meaningless" games for the betterment of my team. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't.

I actually might want to make a statement to Brazil - just to make them squirm and be a little concerned about the US. In the end it's about match-ups and do I gain a better match-up finishing first or second?

By being in the "inner circle", I mean there is sufficient conversation between you and the other coaches to have a strategy. I don't talk to you everyday and my strategies may be different than yours.

My only question would of been would the time between games make much of a difference to make the enthusiasm hold?

You are the coach and I respect the responsibility you have. Agree or disagree, it's not going to change the result, but there is always room for debate.

To shut a team like Brazil up - knowing 1st means everything to them. If it was really meaningless, why not run the 2nd team out there with an unusual tactic? That to me would tell me how meaningless it really was.

You know your absolutely right. and this may be the first season I don't put a trophy on my shelf.....But thanks for checking my team out....

I have already said my team isn't very good - heck I don't know how my team wins....

Hey can we play a meaningless game so I can run my b team out there? :)

Only beating us by 13 while throwing out a Normal to our TIE may make them squirm a bit.

Looks like I misunderstood. I've read way too many stupid HT conversations about the "secret cabal".

My only question would of been would the time between games make much of a difference to make the enthusiasm hold?

Yes - NT enthusiasm drops at a lower rate to make up for the longer period of time between games.

We're at a pretty good number now.

Absolutely. I wish more people would step up and debate - more ideas means more success.

It apparently galls the crap out of them that we refuse to care about games that have no tangible benefit to our chances of winning the Worlds.

Hey, whatever - they run their team the way they see fit, regardless of how we feel.

You forgot to mention that the result established who your adversaries were going to be in the second round.

You are playing against two undefeated group winners, while we are not. Sure, your enthusiasm is a little better right now, but your group is harder. So things are more complex than what you want to suggest. You shouldn't act like the way you see things is always the correct one. And enthusiasm has a upper bound, so it will be about the same in your so important semi-final.

But the result in the 2nd round establishes who the semifinal matchups will be. If the USA wins their 2nd round group, then Brazil will likely face one of those 1st round undefeated teams, Argentina or Chile, both who would like nothing more than to knock of Brazil. Meanwhile, the USA will face a team that was in 2nd place in the 2nd round.

Who do you think you are injecting logic and reasoning here?
