And I know the Italian situation is just the same as anywhere else: not entirely known what the effects are going to be... Has it ever crossed the mind of all you DII and lower managers that by promoting your season ticket sales will explode?
the problem of many italian top teams is they never expanded their arena (at least not much) saying "it's useless" so those changes caught them off guard
considering the current way the attendance is calculated not expanding much the arena wasn't a wrong decision, because italy's top division is so equilibrated (does this word exist? :P) every team loses many matches
however i believe a promotion is always welcome
And the rise in player prices caught me completly off guard, otherwise I would have invested all my money in players (perhaps stack my roster with 20-25 of them). I could have sold them the past week and build a big arena that would fit the changes of next season...
What you are saying sums up this complete discussion: if you have invested all your money in 1 part of the game (players) because that was the best way to play it, your current feeling will be 1 of injustice. There are 2 options from there: keep on moaning how unjust this all is, or handle it and adept to the new situation. There are many ways in which DI en DII can make enough cash to enlarge their arena's (prices on the TL are way up there, you know?).
If the problem for all managers in a division or a country is the same, then the solution is as well! The fastest to adept are the ones that will come out on top. I am not saying that selling (bench) players to enlarge your stadion is THE answer, but if it is, and everybody in a certain division does it, then the level of competition with the other managers in that division will remain the same. The managers who wouldn't sell in this case will eventualy fall behind: they will have less income from spectators and less options to expand or buy new players...
But untill we know how the changes will work out we can only speculate on what is going to happen. Just a couple of weeks, then we can make plans on how to cope with them :)
