It's nice to know na may nagbabasa ng mga articles ko, and hopefully I get to stay here for sometime (aka, not be relegated back to Div IV) para marami pa ko maisulat. Mahirap kaya yung gagawa ka ng bagong thread dahil iba na ang league na sinalihan mo.

Gametime: DLSU IE-98 Engineers

If there is one thing coach Franco Zarate has in his mind now, it is how they will stay with Division III.

A season opening loss set the tone of the season for the Engineers as they had to scramble for lineup changes and use of proper tactics to ensure they stay competitive in Div III.7. Another two close losses against higher seeded teams means they could have enjoyed a 9-6 win-loss record. Instead, they are on the brink of playing a relegation series against either the Joshywoshy Basket Club or the LEE-Thal Angas.

"Sometimes it makes you wonder what might have been, but that's not going to help us now. What matters is what we do on the court and the output we give in all our games. We initially set a goal to make it to the top 5, but at the rate goldraider is playing, it seems our priority would now be to ensure we remain here come next season" said coach Zarate during a team workout last Monday.

The tough losses have also affected their star players. "If only I go turn back the hands of time and change the outcome of those games, we wouldn't be in this predicament now" said Mark Kriegshauser.

"We thought we could make it really big here in Division III and at one point even scoffed at the projected 6-16 record given by the analysts during the pre-season. Well, it seems they're right on the money" said team skipper Lucilo Quilao. "We will do our best to prove these analysts wrong. We hope to end our season with another 2-3 wins and hopefully make it past the relegation tournament."

With seven games left in the season, the Engineers will have their chance to improve their record.

With the undefeated streak on the line, Ignacio "Super Lolo" Armesto embrace the spotlight and hits 5 straight points to avoid there first loss, 94-92.

Entering the last 30 seconds with 3 points deficit, Ignacio calmly told Lebron Velazquez, "I will take care of this." And he did what he needs to do, he bury a 3 pointer that tied the game. After getting lucky when Laranjeiro misses 2 FTs, Armesto attach his cap and became Super Lolo again and bury a cold hearted BUZZER BEATING JUMPSHOT!

Engineers acquire Lithuanian center, send Modina to free agency

The DLSU IE-98 Engineers have found another true center.

Vytautas Pirantas (6'11) was presented to the media today, finally ending speculations on the future of Lou Querubin Modina with the team."It was a tough decision to send Lou (to free agency). We had plans for him after he was drafted but that soon changed after we got promoted to Div III. We wish him all the best" said manager fpanzer10 during the short press conference.

Modina's heart and hustle for the ball is proven, given his 6'6 frame. He posted career averages of 6.5 ppg and 5.5 rpg in almost 16 minutes of action per game.

Pirantas, meanwhile, expressed his excitement to play for the team. "I have yet to get used to the very warm (Philippine) weather, but I was told that the people here are great and easy to get along. I look forward to meeting the team and learn from the other imports about the local culture."

His arrival was timely, as starting center Luduvico Estil was sidelined earlier this week with an injury while playing against the SanMigSuperMixers. Coach Franco Zarate has yet to announce his starting lineup, but it is rumored the former MVP will come off the bench. This move also boosted the front court height of the Engineers, with big men Hakki Cav, Mark Kriegshauser and a returning Luduvico Estil in the lineup.

Watch Vytautas Pirantas play his first game Saturday, 5:30pm at the Velasco Hall against heavily favored GreenLeprechaun Saturday, 07 June 2014.
