What are your thoughts on ISO offenses, does it have a place in this level at all?


ISO theoretically should based on attack by the best offensive player. It may be great weapon if you know that your opponent has a big weakness somewhere, and you would like to take advantage of it by setting your best offensive player there. A zone defense could be an example of this weakness...but not only.

Unfortuantely, everything what I wrote above is only theory. ISO doesn't work like it theoretically should work:/ To be honest I'm not fan of these tactics. I think that much better works Patient in this way.

Actually, I think ISO ins't the best choice in the highest level, when play players with the highest skills, without more weaknesses. In my opinion, more efficient is when danger come from many players..so I prefer offense based on many offensive talented players.

Anyway, I'm not closed on using different tactics. If you look on my team (for example last final league matches), you can see that I like suprise my opponents:-)

Engine is still changing by GMs. For example last time was changing influence of Jump Range and Block Shooting...so it is really very difficult to exactly say how each tactic works. I suppose even GMs don't know it in 100%) For sure outside offense is a bit more efficient after last changes.

Of course I have my own imagination based on experience and observation supported by observation another users.

If you mean ISO I can say that it is tactic which based on detracting attention of the best offensive player from outside/inside. If you choose outside ISO it's very important to have very good outside shooter to finish action but inside shooter (IS=20) under the rim to detract defense too. If you have better inside shooter under the rim, your the best outside shooter will be more efficient.

do you like using zones at all?
I use it usually when I'm underdog and I would like to minimalize big advantage of my opponent. For example if I'm much worse in rebounding and I think it could be crucial, I will play 2-3 zone. Why I use zones so rarely? Because it's very risky. For example 2-3 gives you better rebounding and inside defense, but your opponent gets easier playmaking, more assists and highway on outside:/

By the way I think that engine of this game isn't so complicated as you suppose. People like imagine very big, very complicated engine but I think it isn't possible from technical side;-) Too much lines of codes, to much counting, to much load of server etc.
