This is where us splitting up players into groups like im saying comes in handy. Currently where we sit, we are better off as a LI team, and may even be for a few seasons. The goal is to continue building our line of prospects so we can say in the future that we have the potential to run many tactics.

This is why, if im elected, I will be focusing on contacting managers of future NT players and setting them up into groups for future tactics. I want to be able to help current teams build players the way they want, while continuing to build for the future of the NT. I think this is the best way as well because we wont have to say " you need to train this guy in X skills because that fits the team best. And if you dont, he probably wont be on the team."

I want to promote managers to build these players that can potentially play other tactics. There will always be players out there that will fit into the LI system. That might be because we have pushed it so hard in the last several years that it just seems natural to make these players. But if we ask, in an ideal world, what tactic would you like to have your team run in the future, and then build a player specific for this tactic, it might improve our chances of keeping players on USA teams.

And to add what I've already said, I dont want to make a drastic change to the NT program in the hopes that what I plan on doing will become the best thing. It may or may not work out. But my feeling is, we need the variety of players to have more options for the team, and I believe what I am suggesting will help not only the NT program but also the managers as well. This program i am suggesting will be implemented slowly into what we have now so that later on it can be an option us.

Hey guys, I posted a thread for choosing who you will vote for in the election. I just wanted to see who is voting for whom at this point. I also don't know if this is accepted or not... but I will give it a shot.

How would you adapt a say, HOF player, 24, been trained with Exceptional trainer whole time, to be an LI guard.... and, boom the changes happen, all of a sudden SB works, and 3pt shooting is actually effective now. How would this guy with no JR or 3pt ability, and as much IS as some 20-21 year old PF/Cs, how would he adapt to the changes?

Unless a trainee is being balanced in his training to begin with, which wouldn't suit training to the LI, then he wouldn't be able to adapt in his training...

Before switching tactics, it would be important as a country to decided what path to take so that managers know what to train for future national team players.. Like you said, it is unfair to switch suddenly as most players have been trained for a specific purpose.

but the fact is that we have put so much time and effort into making a LI team, that we are best off sticking with it FOR NOW
NOW is the best time to change our path. It is not like we are anywhere where we want to be anyways. To continue what we are doing would be similar to how some NBA teams choose to remain in mediocrity instead of blowing up their team and starting fresh. I'm not saying to fire everyone, but we need to take real steps towards changing how we train our players. We will have to leave the team alone for a while, until the newly trained players mature.
We have some of the best players, the "best" (most popualr) tactics, yet we suck? Something has to change. So far, the general consensus has been:

Focus more on secondary skills to have a more balanced roster.

Select a small group (2-5) of players to be specially trained for the team

No you are misunderstanding me. NOW we currently are a LI team....but like I have said, and Im not sure if you have read what I am saying, we need to continuing progressing towards the ability to play other ways. We could take our current players and try something else, yes, but they will not perform as well as what we have now, which is the LI. Thinking about the future does not mean that it will work right now...it means we change to perform better in the future or have more options for the future.

Right now we are made to run the LI offense. Its that simple. We need to keep what we have and build for the future to have the potential to run something else.

There's no way we can deviate from what we have done almost every season until we set ourselves up to be able to. We are not ready to stray away from it yet but we are slowly getting there.

As I said earlier, the goal is to train multiple players for multiple tactics, thinking about the FUTURE and not NOW. So for those that say "we need to change it now" dont understand that we arent ready yet.

Edit: To add to this, I am talking about the future as being 2-4 seasons from now.
