Except for by the time we have the best jump shooter there will be the best defenders as well... and the shooting percentage goes down with better defense. I dont think i'm giving anything away there by saying that.

though maybe this explains what we see right now.. maybe people are overtraining defense... if everyone is shooting so poorly whats the point in having a better defense? to shoot even more poorly? how do any of the users have a sense that they haven't made their opponents shoot as poorly as they should...

or more accurately there is some incremental amount that you could make someone shoot worse if you were an incrementally better at defense... d opponents shooting / d defensive training if you will... now how does that compare to d your shooting/ d shooting training? i would argue that people should be trying to see which of those things are higher and choosing to train that one, because really you care about winning.

edit: course you really have a fixed amount of training so then you need to know

d def. training/ d training and d off. training/ d training and use the chain rule... to... um.... yeah... ok, i was a physics major.. im gonna shutup now.

EDIT: SOME OF THESE STATEMENTS MIGHT BE MISLEADING.. PLEASE READ (66639.86)

Just think that Driving and Passing are two VERY underestimated skills. Looking at Lebron James BB version, the guy had lvl17 driving, lvl 9 JS, lvl 11 IS and lvl 9 JR. Meanwhile, a top scorer at top divisions in BB is most likely a PG/SG with lvl15 JS, lvl13 JR, lvl 11 Driving.

Where can these skills be found?

My season stats full squad to date are;

0.475 FG%
0.339 3FG%
0.666 FT%

I haven't the time or desire to break it down to guards only but this is my whole squad from the start of the season - including scrubs playing a lot of the time out of position.

Granted the average level of opposition may not be as strong as other leagues but if I was to consistently field my best 5 in a league game rather than continuously sacrifice positions and minutes for cup/BB3/training I would guess my figures would be higher and I'd be surprised if they weren't the same next season after my rivals have caught up a little bit on my team ratings.

It would be nice to see team stats wtih all other fixtures included or at least a filter system so you can differentiate between cup/league/playoff/PL etc...
PL is bound to be the most accurate as most people enter competitive leagues for their teams level and always field their best lineups (bar some tactical experiments)

Mine:

FG 38,9%
3PT 24,6%
FT 63,1%

and i don't think that my opponents shoot much better, but i score around 90 Pts per game and increasing the percentages to normal level ocould make the result unrealisitc and could change the balance betwenn inside and outside strategys.

Well, here are my stats:
FG% - 44.6%
3PT% - 36.2%
FT% - 69.3%

Check out the latest NBA team stats (http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/stats/byteam?cat1=Total&c...)

For a FG% and 3PT%, my team would be a fairly average, maybe a tad below-average shooting team. My FT% is rather low, though.

Given that I'm USA Div. III, I wouldn't expect that I'd be NBA-level talent, so I don't see anything wrong with my team stats. Granted, I'm currently 13-1, so these stats, which are maybe average or below-average, are good enough for first-place in Div. III. Most other teams in my league have stats that fall considerably below mine.

I think comparing stats of the top leagues would be more appropriate as a gauge for how realistic the game engine is...

Don't ask what sort of Chunks they are, you probably don't want to know. Blowing Chunks since Season 4!

Not sure I necessarily agree. Your players might not be top-level players, but neither are the players that are defending them. In fact, since you're dominating your league, I'd expect your offensive stats to be better than the average NBA team.

edit: I guess I agree in the sense that teams in the top leagues should be somewhat evenly matched, so their stats should be similar to stats in the NBA. But that doesn't mean everyone else should be stat-wise below NBA level.
