The training section also needs to work in this useful table relating potentials to salary amounts:

0 Announcer: < 5k
1 Bench warmer: < 5k
2 Role player: < 9,5k
3 6th man: 11,5-13,5k,
4 Starter: 21-24k,
5 Star: 33-40k
6 AllStar: 43-65k
7 Perennial allstar: 80-100k
8 Superstar: 125-145k
9 MVP: 195-230k

Well with the new changes of the economy somebody must calculate the new numbers, because right now are not accurate.

I talked briefly about potential, and I was going to include that but the only reason I didn't was because this is outdated now because of the salary increase. However, I will add it in for now because it still provides a rough guideline, but if someone does work out what the new potential caps are please post it here and I will adjust the post.

I wouldnt be too hasty about telling new teams to not increase arena early on.

Bottom line is you need to get a return on your investment as quickly as possible and an upgrade in arena starts giving this straight away. Investing in players to get the same return would be difficult to calculate but you need more wins to attract more fans OR you need to train them to improve their value.

I would recommend more of a balanced approach depending on what results a manager expected in addition to how they want to grow their franchise in the early seasons. There isn't just one route to success and so I would try to be more impartial with your 'advice'.

Overall - a big step to improving the rules.

According to the global announcement, the salary increase was only 5-10%. The margin of error for the table is probably greater than that.

But if you increased everything by 5-10%:

0 Announcer: < 6k
1 Bench warmer: < 6k
2 Role player: < 11k
3 6th man: 13-15k
4 Starter: 23-26k
5 Star: 36-44k
6 AllStar: 47-70k
7 Perennial allstar: 88-110k
8 Superstar: 137-160k
9 MVP: 215-250k
10 Hall of famer: 500k+
11 All time great: 1M+

That's probably good enough. They're estimates, after all.

Here's a quick guide with 1 case study - feel free to amend/add your own stuff and if you want me to have a crack at other case studies (doesn't have to be for starters) give me scenarios and I'll try rustle up something!

Starters Guide.

Here are a couple of case studies of imaginary teams. (to be added to!) As a new team you might find yourself in similar position to one of the teams below and may wish to adopt some of the ideas in order to help you get the best out of your team in the early season(s)!

It is important initially to set yourself realistic targets and one way to do this is to understand the position you are in versus your immediate rivals. It is also important to understand the value of the assets in your franchise and how and which ones can give you the best return for the position you are in. Try ranking what you feel is most important for you (Cash, Arena, Scouting, Staff & Players) based on expected return.

Lastly training; No matter where you start or who you are competing against this has to be set out from day 1. I won’t include this in the case studies as it is paramount this is done irrespective of country/league/rivals. I will comment on whether I believe 1 or 2 position training is best. BEFORE any arena upgrade, staff upgrade or non-trainee purchase chose how much of your budget you want to devote to buying your trainees and buy the very best/youngest you can with the money you have.

Case study 1

So you’ve inherited a 5th Division team and you find yourself surrounded by robots!!
1) Probability of winning the league within 2 seasons – V.HIGH
2) Ranking of assets. Arena, Scouting, Players, Staff, Cash.
3) Training – 2 positions.

The key here is to imagine promotion. The bots around you are never going to improve so every time you invest in better players or improve your trainees you should find winning easier. It is for this reason I would train 2 positions so that you can get 5 and sometimes even 6 of your players improving. It is unlikely you will go very far in the cup so you will be able to train easier in scrimmages to quickly see your team advance. Once your team is regularly beating bots then your attendances will start to be maxed out. This is where I would lean towards investment in more seats, making small to moderate increases and checking after each home game to see if you are still selling out. (If so repeat if you can afford to)

Maybe scout a little bit as bots cant scout and even if you finish high in your league you can still capitalise from being the only 1 or 1 of a few humans that can take advantage of the draftees from your league.

Understanding your trainees won’t be the ‘best’ in the market the trainer you employ doesn’t have to be the most expensive either. As long as they are making sensible progress you will see the benefit (and this again is another reason why I believe arena investment is stronger in the early stages).

WARNING – be prepared that when you do promote you will likely not be ready for the league above – you will then be faced with a very different season where you can then concentrate more heavily on players/training/scouting.
