I haven't read the entire thread, but I've tried 3-2 zone just to see if my center with ID 14 and SB 8 would block any layups from guards (I guess it's a similar concept with 2-3 zone). My center's name is Froget and the game is
(48762627)1 11:53 0 — 0 B. Umilta (A) tries a driving layup under pressure from Y. Froget (H). Shot blocked.
1 10:04 2 — 4 R. Novaković (A) tries a driving layup, guarded closely by Y. Froget (H). Shot blocked
1 8:51 2 — 5 R. Novaković (A) attempts a baseline jumper, guarded closely by Y. Froget (H). Shot blocked.
1 0:48 19 — 18 H. Ergül (A) slips off a screen and fires from the elbow with Y. Froget (H) right in his face. Shot blocked.
2 10:59 21 — 24 B. Umilta (A) tries a driving layup, guarded closely by Y. Froget (H). Shot blocked.
Before fouling out, he had 5 blocks in 27 minutes. He blocked a PF once, SF twice and PG twice. Of course he fouled out because his OD is not high enough.
I think SB doesn't help much against inside players with high inside shot, unless your player's SB is higher than IS of his counterpart. It does help tremendously against driving layups though because DR is much inferior to IS as far as FG% goes. So I'll give 3-2 defense a few more tries and someday maybe even 2-3.
