The game should be designed in such a way that PA + JR can overcome OD, but that doesn’t seem to be the case in any offense nor is it financially feasible, unless you want to play Patient.

On a personal note, I hate my team this season. Have you guys ever looked at the players you’ve purchased and the team you’ve assembled and thought, “What the heck was I thinking?” I have no interior scoring, I’m training 18 and 19 year olds in league games, and my mismatched assembly of guards are crappy offensively.

The ball moves faster than the player. Even for "open" shots here in BB, the shooter is still being resisted by the overall team defense, which doesn't always make sense with real basketball. Sometimes in real-life basketball, the defense completely loses an open shooter and the closeout isn't even attempted. The only factors for missing a shot would be the shooter's skill, mentality, stamina, and a hostile crowd.

I think there should be a distinction between the current "open" shots and "completely uncontested" shots, the latter which wouldn't be resisted by team defense at all. Perhaps "completely uncontested" shots could be processed by the game engine as if the shooter was guarded 1v1 by a player with 1 ID/OD/experience. It would also reward offensive flow more properly instead of letting the other team dodge the open 3 just because their players on the court naturally have some level of OD/ID on them. What do y'all think?

I'm not smart enough to know how to re-code the game and streamline training to ensure that perimeter offenses are rewarded, but your solution sounds as good as any.

Power Rankings Thru First 7 Games...

1. D-City Smokers - The most balanced team in the league. They have the best offense, and also have one of the top defenses. Lost a tough road game early, and have been on FIRE ever since.

2. Eggies - This is a team that can't score to save their F&@#ing LIVES! May have to acquire a scorer or two to truly compete.

3. Tallahassee Trees - Could very well have the best team once it's all said and done. Injuries have plagued them as much as any other team in the league. Still playing very competitive basketball.

4. Sockdologizers - Extremelly deep and balanced. This team carries a high salary and uses it effectively.

5. The Brewskies - This team has one of the top 3 players in the league. Does he have enough around him? Time will tell. I worry about their long term success with several aging players.

6. Sir Chewbacca - They have two absolute STUDS inside. Don't know if they have enough on defense to be considered a real threat at the moment. Solid playoff team.

7. Tucumcari Whalers - Very young team that has a nice future (and past for that matter) ahead of them. With one of the all time great owners, the franchise is in very good hands. Probably needs to add some pieces to compete this year, but look out for them in the coming seasons.

8. Dinkle Smurfs - As one of the better teams in the Big 8 last year, they have under-achieved thus far in the season. I still feel like this is a playoff team once it's all said and done.

9. PV Pride - VERY solid defensively. Much like the Eggies...need to add some scoring punch. Make sure you tune in on Tuesday night to one of the most boring games of all time. Eggies v PV Pride. First team to double digits wins!

10. Diamantes - Another strong Big 8 team that is probably better than their record indicates. Could very well be a top 5 team by the end of the season. Currently sitting right outside of the playoffs.

11. Big Man Inc. - They've looked great at times, but inconsistency has plagued them. Going to have to really fight to make the playoffs.

12. Sandy Springs Basketball Club - Another team that's probably underachieved thus far. Can they recapture the magic that led them to 13 wins in Season 41?

13. Bacon Hill Beavers - VERY tough on the boards. The DIV Champ has their hands full with a competitive DIII League, but is having a respectable first season in DIII. They will really have to battle to avoid relegation.

14. California Knights - The Knights clearly have the best player in the league, but he has a bunch of loose change for teammates. They have the highest salary by a MILE, but I'm not sure how a team that boasts a starting lineup of Anthony Davis, Newt Gingrich, Margaret Thatcher, one of the Olsen twins, and the late John Candy will be able to compete with the top teams in the league.

15. wilcats - Based on salary alone, they are definitely underachieving. Most likely headed for relegation unless changes are made.

16. ThunderDogs - They are having a rough go of it. Have lost every game by double digits.

*These are just my opinions and they are subject to change. I'm sure I will be wrong on SEVERAL of your teams. If I took a shot at anybody, it was strictly done as an attempt at humor and is not meant to be taken personally!

Good work, my friend! Spot-on in my opinion. I especially enjoyed your description of my team and our upcoming game.

There are some seriously long-tenured teams on your side of the league. I'd love to know how much money Sockdologizers and Tucumcari have in the bank right now.

Thanks for the write up!

Hope to get some good development finished by the seasons end so maybe I can push.

Best of luck to everyone for the next 2/3rds.

Thanks for the writeup! Great piece and definitely the kind of content every league deserves to have.

Nice write up. This team has surprised me so far. I keep waiting for them to come back to earth. Just hoping I get enough wins to avoid regulation before it happens.

I appreciate the humility, but c'mon man, a team with five players over $25k salary (three of them > $40k) should not be worried about relegation in D.III. I think you should be looking towards a finals appearance and possibly a championship victory just based on your starting five's salary and the success you have had so far

We lack depth, and not as good at rebounding as want. Age could catch up to us.
