And at the moment, the optimal speed is level 8 or whatever the best available trainer is.

I have a level 9. Fermin Rosales

12/5 ybarra 8
It's a sad story!
- and my father's trainer Cristobal Key is still level 9 and has been that for ages (that's what he says at least)!

Fermin Rosales
Trainer: 9
Weekly salary: $ 19 632

I switched to Rosales because Ybarra had dropped to 8 and was still costing around 24k per week. I thought that was a no-brainer move. That is, going up to 9 from 8 and saving around 4k per week in salary. I figured it would take 5-6 weeks of savings to get even from the Ybarra severance package, and then I'm always ahead of those who kept Ybarra.

Even if a 10 comes along in the next few weeks, I've been training at 9 while the rest of you have been at 8, so I'm ahead that way, too.

Why didn't the rest of you do that?

Nope. Two weeks ago, possibly three.

He dropped to 9 the week before the all-star break. There's another thread that documents that.

Ybarra was at 8 before this week because the week he dropped the only option was a lower rated coach, and last week I hesitated a moment before choosing Rosales because I trained stamina and thought there would be no difference in coaching skill for that. But the lower cost analysis convinced me to make the move.

Even if you are right about timing (which I demonstrated not to be true), why didn't you switch to Rosales this week? The lower price/higher rating argument still holds.
