The Great 8 is going to be a blood bath by season's end. 14 or 15 wins may win that division. Congrats to Toronto taking over first place this late in the season, it however will be short lived as Tucumcari finally gets a bye week with a 100 point differential. That being said Toronto can truly earn 1st place when they host the reigning champions this coming Saturday. Should be a great game that comes down to the 4th Q.

is there any rhyme or reason to RamQ's failure to provide lineups? as the national team coach, as well as having a team that reached this level, i know he can manage a team. but i can't figure a reason for tanking two games, home games, against Tucumcari and High Point. i think BM is an interesting squad, and was looking forward to those matchups. i can't figure it.

well, he dressed out two for the Cup game -- and won -- but (and i did not know this), dressing out two means automatic loss, regardless of results -- which suggests to me RamQ is inattentive, not pursuing some deep, dark strategy.

I love how forfeited games are still played out normally, everyone (so earnestly!) going through with the charade. Players, fans, coaches, staff, refs, the TV network (when applicable)...

Then the instant the game ends... poof, 50-0 final. Energy expended by the forfeiting team is magically restored. But they've learned nothing, so no training. The non-forfeiting team did learn something, so they stay fatigued. Mario Lopez continues to host Extra.

i have long agreed with what was once the common understanding that home court was worth around seven points.

for whatever reason, i don't think that is the case, at least at this level. after some of the games i've played so far this season, i think the difference could well be closer to 20 points.

occasionally, i come to understand another manager's strategy, and learn something. i have been scouting EDH and i think figured out his clever approach to this season.

his squad has four capable veterans, a couple of them young, and then a large number of trainees, a couple of them quite promising. but, and this is what sparked my interest, with those veterans, why the enormous league losses?

i realized EDH is dealing with the reality of the league's salary floor by spending money on those veterans, and using them to stay in the Cup, which of course is some extra revenue. i think when those four are combined with talented trainees, he could have, luck permitting, a run well past the all-star break. that means the league games are used for training.

so, at the end of the season, EDH will have
-- a great draft position
-- a good deal of money in the bank
-- a head start on trainng a number of players
-- a core of veterans whose salary will be low enough to contribute in DII

i think he may drop with a team good enough to stay in DII, which would be quite a trick for a rebuild.

nice work.

and since i am up here on my soapbox, i would like to state for the record that tonight's Stags -- Riverdogs match is between two teams whose records don't match the ability of their teams. Pappy has put himself together a real powerhouse. Thegame187 must have neglected to honor the gods, and they responded with some early season injuries, but the season is still young and his squad is whole. if both managers take the game seriously, it should be quite a match.
