That is very bizarre to say the least.

The guy who bought him said it was an accident lol. I just hope that he gets refunded some of that money.

How do you accidentally bid on a player? Seems Henke to me. Yeah, it’s a cheap roster filler that doesn’t jack your payroll, but 500k? You can buy a garbage player for 1k a week and dump him before paying his salary. I’m sorry, but something is off here

That could be the case. If the guy that bought him was a U.S. team, I would've definitely suspected that that guy is running multiple accounts.

Except it is actually against the rules to pay grossly over the value of the player. 500 times the value in this case

And I just went and checked what 50 year olds are available now. There is a 54 year old at 2,000 and a 57 year old at 3000. A much better bargain then 500k.

Also, I would like to be able to query the transaction data and see how many 50+ year olds have sold for let's say over 100k. I wonder what that number would be? My guess is 1.

You would be correct. The guy who bought this player has no other 50 year olds, and doesn't need a filler guy anyway. he has 4 or 5 players who haven't played in months already.

The main reason someone buys an old guy is to have a roster filler that is cheaper than 1000$, which is the price one normally pays to get a filler player for a scrim then dump him before his salary is paid. So yeah, one might buy a player with no skills but under 1000$ salary for that reason, but to pay 500k defeats the purpose. It is also a bit naïve to think that because the buyer isn't American (I.E. multiple account) then collusion is not possible. I'm not saying someone colluded, but I am saying this is fishy, and regardless of why it happened, 1 team got a huge break and 15 teams got screwed over.

Back in the day when there were 4 times the managers there are now this would have been addressed and fast. Those days are long gone.
