Well, I'm familiar with many kind of programming and CHANGING that thing is peace of cake ;)

Actually, it's not.

Btw this is the game advantage, and you didn't said anything against... so you agree with my suggestion

No, that means jack.

FTR, I wouldn't mind being able to search by only first or last name, but no idea if it's technically feasible with server loads and things of that nature.

Changing a bunch of text files may be a piece of cake, yes. Except people don't seem to realize that even the smallest change in BB code should also scale to a living site with thousands of users on at the same time without causing any performance issues.

In the particular case of player search, I would hazard a guess that trying to pull thousands of records instead of hundreds of records from the database, when multiplied by the number of searches conducted daily is anything but a piece of cake where performance is concerned.

Yes, that is true. But I strongly believe that BB want to improve it self and to become one of the best browser games.

Search engine like this is useless! For whole these seasons just few times I searched for player in that way (first+last name). How many times did you looking for player in this way?

I just give my suggestion. If BB really want to become "the best", then thing like this shouldn't be problems for developers ;)

Repeating it doesn't make it any more true.

No, I don't have a brain.

I'm referring to the easy part.

Clearly it's not easy, and I'm not the only one this time pointing it out.

I'm not the one that can accurately say whether or not such a search would cause load-induced problems or not. I'd love for the answer to be not, of course, but if it is, it is.

Once long time ago I talked about this with BB-Mark and he pointed out that there would be too much load for servers, that`s why they made search as it is now. And this was at the times BB just dreamed to ever reach 30k users. So my guess would be that now it`s even more impossible then it was long time ago to improve search system as it could course some server crashes if plenty of users would try to search using just 2 letters in surname at the same time...

So I choose crappy search system, but fast BB website.

Well, for example... what if they don't need to load all players? They can load 20, and after user click "more" then load next 20 :P

and what is the difference here???? Server still firstly has to find all of them and just after that split them in groups of 20 players per page... Splitting is not for saving server load, it`s for not scrolling your mouse wheel a lot till you reach the bottom of the list and getting confused cause you see too much info in one place.

How Google works? Yes it has a lot of servers, the best technology... but data that Google operate with in every "load" is much larger. So it's possible.

I believe that it could be done if you separate client - searching - server. So you don't need to connect to server and load all data. If client want some name, he send that name to searching. Then searching use that name and make his own logic (Algorithm) for requesting data from server. When searching has first 20 names, then he send those results to client and remember where the Algorithm stops. If client want more results, he send request for new search. And then searching continue searching for next 20 in same way like first time, but only Algorithm starting position is different.
