How high is your Jump Shot? I would train Jump Range up to Proficient or Prominent, but only if your Jump Shot is always equal to or higher than Jump Range.

I highly recommend doing so reseasrch on JR. Many of the top managers will not train it past prominent, there is a reason for that.

JR is a nice secondary imo but should not be your top skill. Focus on the primaries for your trainees(JS, OD) and then worry about JR.

For one person, i have tremendous js and proficient jump range.
Another person i have respectable js and average jump range.
And my last trainee, he has mediorce js and mediocre jump range.

I think JR is more important than most. I think it gets knocked because it increases salary by so much. However, its a trade-off between your economic situation and what you value.

I had a qs about this also. I was training Range for a few weeks but it takes way too long to pop, so I stopped. Plus, I have a couple of players with better range than JS and their shooting percentage is terrible. One of them has missed their last 15 shots! He has respectable range and inept shooting.

So it seems to me that JR is a terrible curse of a skill - its slow to train and is damaging if the player doesn't also have a good JS.

hmmm -- "respectable range and inept shooting". what exactly does that mean?

all his misses come from behind the three point line?

i have a similar player, though not quite as comical -- average jump shot and proficient range. he, too, misses from afar -- he's very good at that.

i like your phrase "a terrible curse of a skill" --

I bought a player with tremendous JS and tremendous JR. He's a mediocre shooter from inside the arch, but he can torch from the 3 pt line when he decides to stretch it out (which isn't nearly enough). One thing I've noticed is that he randomly pops up and takes 40 foot jumpers with regularity with time on the clock. No one else on my team will do this. I don't know if these things are indicative of the players extra jump range or not, but I'd recommend not going overboard with jump range. Definitely keep jump shot a ways higher in comparison.

I should also note that he's performing this way against 95% bot opponents which I can only hope have awful defenders. It's perplexing to me, but from what I conclude based on everyone's opinion on jump range coupled with my new found players results, it probably isn't worth it to train past prominent unless your jump range is significantly higher maybe.

so should JS always higher than JR? i have one with JS at 7 and JR at 8, so is it much worthy to win games? it's effective to me since i have 11-1 record :) with using PRINCETON as my strategy

Don't take my opinion for granted- I'm only in my first full season, but from my point of view...

I have 4 SG's/ PG's
One has 5 JS and 7 JR, 8 Handling
One has 7 JS and 7 JR, 7 Handling
One has 8 JS and 7 JR, 7 Handling
One has 4 JS and 8 JR, 4 Handling

The 4/8 one is far lower shooting percentage than my other players, but is still very good at shooting- the one that performs best is actually the 5/7 one on most occassions, with the 7/7 one and 8/7 ones giving me 40 points in a game once each- the 7/7 one being the top scorer during any game since I owned the team.

I think JR is valuable if you have good JS to back it up, at least equal to the JR of your player, but I think having good Handling helps just a WEEE bit as far as shooting 3's, don't know how, but it seems that the better grip your player gets on the ball the better shot?

These players are my best shooters. Their JS/JR in the following order is:

Enn Heinsaar-12/9: Shoots pretty badly haha... the latest game i had with him was his best, otherwise actually he's pretty bad XD. His experience is only awful so that could say a bit.

Txema Robles- 9/7: A great overall shooter, really torches the 3s, but this could be due to his better experience (mediocre) and he's much more balanced in skills than my SG is.

Laurent Gros: 9/7: This trainee is another great 3 point shooter, but his jumpers aren't too great. Again this could be due to experience (atrocious haha). He's quite balanced too.

So my guess could be to really BALANCE out the player's skills and keep JS only 2 above or lower than your JR (maybe 3 above for an SF).
