This certainly puts a lot in perspective. In this case the choice of strategy combined with good GS overcame a stacked team on CT. Taking on their 17k and 31k sg and sf with a couple 4k players on the outside with better GS is mind boggling. Even the inside had a large advantage with his 13k pf on my 5k scrub. I must admit the 25k center of theirs did give me some foul trouble and take a lot of rebs. Most all players on the team at any position had an advantage. The effort on their part was clearly apparent with the whopping 23 reb advantage. The big stat for them was definitely the 20 TOs. Either way the win was impressive to me and definitely shows the importance of strategy and GS.

Did you watch the game? I bet everytime these two guys shot the ball you were on the edge of your seat. I have had games like this in the past that at your level are just awesome and renew your vigor for the game.

Ya dude It feels great to win when you play a better team then you. I narrowly won my cup game this week too. I had an unlucky draw and was facing a decent DIII guy. I was able to pull it out after trailing the whole game. It was the first realy excited game of the season. I sacrificed some of my guys game shapes to average, but I figured I just needed to beat this unlucky draw. I then got a D I team. Lucky me!

i know from personal experience that having higher GS than your opponent's players is a big boost.
I havent been able to quantify it exactly (compared to say HCA or layers of outside or inside skills) but its almost as if every point of GS in your favour adds a "pop" to the players primary skills for the game against his match up.
It keeps things much more interesting for managers :)

Ya he put more into it, and the best player on the court would be his Center. It might have been a good idea to still play an outside tactic despite his 3-2 seeing as your guards are your best players and far outmatch his gurads, while his best players are inside and match up better than yours. This is one of those times when you matchthe tactics perfectly up but you didn't play your strength and played into his. The fact that if you put in the same effort you would have won kind stinks but it happens.

I actually think you made the right call using the 2-3. defense. I think besides offensive not playing your strength the only other thing was he put more into it than you did. I use 2-3 quite often aginst people plating inside and I haven't really seen any major problems. I rarely play man 2 man, mainly because I am still in a league that most people don't change tactics that often so I know what offense they are going to use and can plan accordingly. Man 2 man seems like the safe bet when don't really want to guess wrong.
