From your list, I would take player C) any day of the week. If you're talking about a guard however i think driving is most important, because he actually has to go past his defender and get to the basket to perform a layup/dunk. If you need a center, you will do just fine with a player like player A) but that would mean that you need a decent point guard.

I have had both types, and i can tell you this much: a guard or a forward, will never be a scorer(in a decent league), without high driving and handling, and in centers it doesn't really matter, because they're actually already inside, so a great pass will do the trick. I think driving only means ability of going to the basket, when you catch the ball near the 3 point line

Thanks. I know it'll be a lot of work tracking exactly when he takes a layup-type shot and what % he shoots on them, but it will definitely be helpful!

Player A) 1 driving and 15 inside shot

Useless level 15 skill when the guy can't even make it to the rim...

Player B) 15 driving and 1 inside shot

This one can penetrate and then what? Turnover, blocked shot or a miss...

Player C) 8 driving and 8 inside shot

The best of the 3, plus he would probably have smaller salary.

all that is true, but training inside shot for guards is painfully slow. either make it less needed for guards or make it easier to train guards in IS

it is slow, but you don't need a very high number there. a 8-9-10 will do just fine. And you can train it by doing jumpshot for wingmen so that shouldn't be too bad to do

So the player with 15 driving and 1 inside shot would decide to drive for layups a lot, but he wouldn't make hardly any of them? Am I reading that right?
