Good post, and some good information. However, since you are actively *asking* to be +1'ed, I shall not do so.

Only thing I'd add is that Age and Star Rating/Potential are about even in importance. I'd take a 5/5 19 year old, but I'd also take a 4/5 or even 4/4 18 year old if nothing else presented itself. That extra year of training can add up to a lot in missed stats.

Box score can be very useful in finding a player, and is great in showing red flags in a highly rated player. While you often can't tell the stats by box score, you can sometimes get generalizations. For example a SG with 7 RB is going to have a good RB stat (probably 5-7) while one with 0 or 1 RB will probably be 1-3. Its not great for primary stats but it can be great for secondaries that don't attribute to rating because they hardly affect the salary. Also maybe its greatest feature is that it might show a foul-prone player. A guy with 5 PF might never get over his foul problems and might not be the right choice if other options are availble.

Both of you guys helped me a lot so thank you. Arislanx you don't need to give him a +1 if you don't want to but i feel if he makes a good point he deserves a +1 regardless if he asks for it or not.

it takes imho a long time you get an extra year of training through this, to reach that imho you had to train to 25+

Exactly. A one-position trained 18-yo can achieve between 10-12 pops in his first season of training. So if you are choosing between a bad 18yo or great 19yo, that may be a hard choice. But you can always find decent 18yo in a draft class and those are always better than even A+ 19yo, considering 18yo gets a full season of training of course.

I will also give you an example: in the same season I drafted a 18yo PG with very bad shooting and a 19yo SG with very bad passing. They both received equal training in last three seasons and a half. Look at them now:

18yo (now 21yo):

Weekly salary: $ 13 609
Role: regular starter
(BuzzerBeta)

DMI: 319800
Age: 21
Height: 6'0" / 183 cm
Potential: allstar
Game Shape: proficient
Jump Shot: tremendous Jump Range: mediocre
Outside Def.: tremendous ↑ Handling: sensational
Driving: wondrous ↑ Passing: sensational
Inside Shot: pitiful Inside Def.: respectable
Rebounding: pitiful Shot Blocking: atrocious
Stamina: mediocre Free Throw: strong

Experience: awful

19yo (now 22yo):

Weekly salary: $ 16 592
Role: regular starter
(BuzzerBeta)

DMI: 109600
Age: 22
Height: 6'4" / 193 cm
Potential: allstar
Game Shape: strong
Jump Shot: tremendous Jump Range: proficient
Outside Def.: sensational ↑ Handling: sensational
Driving: tremendous Passing: average
Inside Shot: pitiful Inside Def.: respectable
Rebounding: mediocre Shot Blocking: respectable
Stamina: inept Free Throw: respectable

Experience: awful

They are different players for sure, but I like first better - he will be much better at the age the second player is in now.

but with the equal amount of training, they would be still different roleplayers but not so different in the skill set.

Right, but let's say I try to sell the older one now and then try to sell the younger one at the same age as I sold the older. Younger will for sure be sold for a higher price. Of course the deflation has to be excluded here.

depends when you want to sell, 21 and 22 makes not a real difference, 18/19 makes it. For a draft decision i would choose the younger one, too - but economical if you search a trainee a 19 year old might be the smarter choiche because the difference isn't that big and far away from 1 season.
