If you are talking about 18y olds, I think it's like this:

1 pos.: average 13 pops x 3 players = 39 pops

2 pos.: average 10 pops x 5 players = 50 pops

So you would get more pops with 5 players, but none of those 5 players would be as good as any 1-position trained player.

Now 3 pops isn't much, but over 4 seasons that's 12 pops...

3 vs. 6 players is a more fair comparison though.

so... 2 pos.: average 10 pops x 6 players = 60 pops


that's a significant difference. (11 pops per season!) & while they wouldn't be good as quickly, he will have a much better *team*. & if those players will reach their cap anyway... what's the rush? you don't need to train a $100k player in D5 anyway.

True, but I used 5 players example because it's very very tough to consistently getting 48min for all 6 players week in and week out. It's much easier to control this with three players. So while in theory there could be 60 pops, I doubt you could ever make it.
