Well, that's the bad part about skill drops They are so random! You can't really control them. That is why I try never to have players who are older than around 33,34. For a backup its ok but if they are your starter that skill drop can really hurt you.
I've always been scared about skills drops since the time I've joint BB, to a point where I used to look at players above 32 with disgust. Of course over time I've come to realize that luck plays quite a major role in skill drops, so I don't mind having a 34 year old guy on my team now(34 being the maximum). You probably were very unlucky. Very few people complain of double drops, some like me are lucky enough to have not experienced even one drop! Also, it is possible that a hidden attribute plays a part in skill drops. I think you may want to consider selling that guy and getting a younger player.
Btw, I've never thought Career Extension really helps, so I've never bothered getting one. I mean, the cost of getting one is quite a bit more than getting a trainer of the same level WITHOUT specialty.

Another point: Some people think that higher the skills are, the faster they deteriorate. That goes in sync with your situation(if I'm right the 45k C of yours experienced the double drop, right?) Again I don't know how much of this is true. The 35 year old player I was talking about had a salary of 11k, so again that isn't high....
You may want to put those 34-35 year olds on the TL and get some younger, 30-31 year olds. They are still pretty cheap, especially with the current TL condition

Marin posted last season that even triple drops are possible, even when most time the drop rate should be way below that.
A better trainer helps to contain the skills, and career extension avoid skilldrop in a week with a 1/3 or 1/4 chanche.

Maybe i find his post and can add this here.

(203810.1) - look for Raymund and marin post in this thread, quite informative.

Thanks. I see now that the drops follow an illogical random pattern rather than a more logical slow decrease over time. Oh well, hopefully I'll have better luck in the future.

I wish I could afford younger players with similar skills but that's not an option right now. Even though old and experiencing drops, Thomas and Rudduck are dominating my league this season.
