And how can I try to get him enough minutes in the scrimmage if he does the same thing?

Set no backup for him. Although I am not sure how effective this will be as far as foul trouble is concerned.

Yea I did that last week but he only needs 28 minutes.

I have -

Guy #1 - needs 28 minutes
Guy #2 - needs 4 minutes
(this is as an SG, and playing one of them PG isn't an option, I have 1 PG trainee that still needs minutes.. but he needs 44)

Could this work?
Starter - Guy #1
Backup - Guy #1
Reserve - Guy #2

What would you do in this situation? Keep in mind that guy #1 fouls a lot and could foul out.

My opponent is my boyfriend's team so I can get any info necessary if it would help but he's a lot, lot better than me so there will be no 25-30 point advantage (unless it's in his favor).

Sorry for all the questions, this is my first full week of training and I'm still trying to figure this all out.

This game is not so easy when it comes to dividing minutes properly. I myself also had some surprises in the past with back-ups and starting players and stuff.

As said, fouls can be 1 disturbing factor, but even without foul trouble it is not that easy.

If you start a player, and his back-up is obviously better, it happens that the coach has the back-up play much more minutes, just because he is better and the coach wants the best on the field.
Then, if you are ahead with many points, the system changes, and your coach will put in your back-ups to spare your starters, thus putting that back-up on the court all the time.
This can happen, even if your starter did not get into foul trouble.

Therefor it is important to try to find out how your coach reacts to each tactic (fast or slow offense), and opposing team strength. If you predict you will lead with big points at the start of the 4th Q, you might best put the players who need most minutes as back-ups, not as starters...

It's not easy, and we all have trouble with it...

They are not your friends; they dispise you. I am the only one you can count on. Trust me.

The starter will play 48 minutes unless there is an injury, foul trouble, or a blowout.

Thank you all for your help and answers, as a newbie.. I really appreciate the friendliness and helpfulness of this community.

It did work out for me, the guy that need 28 was the starter and backup and the guy that needed 4 minutes listed as reserve. The reserve ended up getting 6 minutes right at the end so I ended up with 5 trainees who received full training. (and 5 pops!). I know it was luck though and I will try something else this week to ensure their 48 minutes.

Nicely done... I was on for a great week until my scrimmage.. I had 48,48,47mins and even bought a guy with 54mins....it then went wrong when i tried to reverse two players with 20 / 29.... oh well - I will get the magic 6x48mins on the button during my BB career..

Suggestion - Increased training for 6x48 perfect minutes or perfect depending on how many positions are being trained.
