Why would you want Drummond and Knight over Dirk?

Realistically, that trade could happen.

Mavs need a pg, and trading dirk would require a big in return. Maybe Holiday/Thad Young(76ers) or Bradley/Green (Celtics, green can play pf). I can't really think of any other combo's for a guard and big that would be feasible for Dirk. I think the other 2 options, though I would prefer, is not possible.

Those two teams wouldn't part with them. And i don't see that trade happening. Dirk is one of the best PFs to play the game but to give 2 young pieces who are playing really well is too much.

Are you referring to the celtics/76ers? I know those wouldn't happen. I know Dirk wouldn't be traded, but look at my Pistons trade. Its more reasonable because Knight probably won't become a superstar, and Drummond will get a ring or two playing similar to Tyson Chandler.

That one is a little more realistic but here a reasons why it wouldn't happen.
The pistons don't do it because
A. Drummond was one of the better big men when he was healthy. His per 36 was something like 18 & 14. That's crazy for a rookie He was healthy most of the season and was a walking highlight reel. I would hold on to him as long as possible
B. Knight is slowly improving his efficiency. After the Calderon trade he improved tremendously. With Calderon mentoring him he can become one of the better guards in the league.

Mavs don't do it because they love Dirk. If they didn't Dirk would already be shipped o amnestied. He's going to be a Mav until he retires. Unless they're given a Durant/Lebron offer they won't trade him

You can drag MJ out of the front office! He's no Jannero Pargo, though.

When I saw a Tyrus Thomas for Horford, and Pargo for James, I wasn't sure how actually true it would be.

How many other rookies have shown great stuff their first year and kind of dropped off? Tyreke, Jennings, and Lin? Dirk does have a no-trade clause, but that ruins the fun, who else would the mavericks have? I think everyone else has a 1 year deal >.>(Or just about). I would totally do the Dirk, 1st round pick. I forgot about Calathes, but Drummond isn't worth 3 players, because we all know Villanueva isn't being traded for skill. Dallas needs the 1st round or Calathes to get a PG.

This is all fun speculation of course though.
