Helper programs in Utopia? Wasn't this supposed to be the clash of the titans?

It's on the list, just not on the top of it ;)

If you guys need help programs, you will always have someone superior to you.

That's complete and utter BS
Those who refuse to do whatever they must to make themselves better are just fools
the ones that believe themselves to be superior soon will be taken down

The "need" for help programs isn't the issue - I wouldn't say that I need them, so much as it's awful convenient to be able to look in buzzer-control and see what my players skills were every single week since I've owned my original team. In fact, if I were smarter, I'd probably look back at my first season or two and get a better idea of what to expect in terms of training times since I'll probably do a lot of the same things I did with my first team when I got it initially.

Some of us just want to load training histories and league salaries and use the salary estimation tool. Sorry for not wanting to spend ages doing manual calculations when buzzer-manager does it instantly :/

I do not dismiss the fact that they can be useful. However, my point remains valid. It is just like real life, you can succeed by hard work. If you take shortcuts, it might benefit you in the short run, but a better understanding and not just relying on tools will improve your skills. Before you start pouting again, I will reiterate that it can help, but that you probably won't get the biggest picture. It seems many people use a specific program and work from there, thus having multiple people which are using the exact same strategy, making their actions predictable and giving an advantage to others that can improve the results from such programs.

The above is all based on the belief that the programs and facts they produce are mostly correct, which they probably are, but will never be fully proven. Hence my point.

Ok. I'm cutting corners by using a tool that calculates league salaries instead of doing all the calculations myself, or even building my own algorithm (but god forbid I share it with those other lazy freeloaders!)

Actually forget that, I can't use a calculator, because it does calculations for me (so I'm clearly not working hard). I'll get a pen and paper... or do I have to do them all in my head in order to display real grit?

I'm not going to write Zen and the Art of BuzzerBeater Maintenance here. I just don't want to waste time doing math when a free-to-use program does it for me.

I don't really get your argument. Nobody's saying that helper programs are a be all and end all. They're called "helper" programs for crying out loud. Just as a program won't paint the full picture, neither will you unless you learn a bit about the game - something which, for a newer manager, "helper" programs do a great job assisting with. As for me, I just want it to do my math so I can spy on my rivals' finances. :p
