Just keep training his guard skills evenly, if you train 1 on 1 do it for forwards that way you might get the black text behind IS gone. His secondaries are too low to be trained to an impactful level, but if you're not planning to get any better trainee the coming couple of seasons you could train some IS and ID.

Best case scenario for him is an outside/patient specialist. The lack of inside skills limits the type of player that he can be. I think you can get him to something like 17/12/15/10/7/10 under the PAS soft cap.

Train one on one for forwards until inside shot pops up, after that primary skills for pg, outside def and passing.... You cant expect for him to be a great player because of his potential and low inside skills but he can maybe reach u21 national team if you have a good trainer (at least lvl5). You should ask u21 manager to give you additional advice.

I have 2 allstars I have trained from 18 year old rookies, both capped at age 22 with roughly the following stats.

Jump Shot: prodigious Jump Range: strong
Outside Def.: wondrous Handling: tremendous
Driving: tremendous Passing: prolific
Inside Shot: respectable Inside Def.: inept
Rebounding: mediocre Shot Blocking: strong
Stamina: mediocre Free Throw: awful

Stamina: average Free Throw: prominent

They would both be good enough to make your nations U21 team and even play in the top division as backups.
