The idea of removing divisions comes from BB's. This is what's been written in the news:
In a global effort to prevent delays, we have removed quite a number of leagues by removing whole divisions in countries that don’t really use them. For example, we removed all 6th divisions, as well as some 5th divisions. The affected countries shouldn’t really feel any changes (other than quicker updates!) and we can easily re-add the removed leagues once they are needed again

This season we have witnessed training that is late by 2-3 days (if I remember correctly), tactics & gdp prediction usually can not be seen during the match, the box score is not available for several hours after the game is finished, etc.
If the number of divisions is still one of the reasons the updates are late, than removing those unnecessary divisions should be one of the priorities, especially because it shouldn't be too hard to do, and like they said, they can easily re-add the removed leagues once they are needed again.

You can use bot teams from other nations. I believe USA bot teams were used in the Utopia cup.

Boxscore are usually there at the end of the games.

After saturday's league games, the boxscores are never available after the game, at least here in Serbia they aren't.It usually takes 1-3 hour for the boxscores to be available. And you can't see the tactics during the match.
After tuesday's league games, the boxscores are sometimes available right after the games end, sometimes they aren't.
Only the Cup games, NT games & BBB games never have these problems.

Also, removing divisions would mean less cup rounds, because:
2 Divisions = 6 rounds of cup
3 Divisions = 8 rounds of cup
4 Divisions = 10 rounds of cup
5 Divisions = 12 rounds of cup

There's no logic in Brasil having more cup rounds than Russia/Australia/Latvia when they have less users.

Changes would also have some impact on bbb competition (less enthusiasm for some).

Actually it does not. And the removal was half-hearted aus usual, there are still thousands of unnecessary teams around.

The next step should be to merge countries - bot removal does not seem to help a lot.

This is exactly the kind of constructive and to-the-point suggestion that I like. Yes, we will be removing some more divisions this offseason and I will use this as a reference.

Division removal is a new thing and I was unsure how it would work, that's why it was implemented in such a small extent. Now I know it works and further reductions can be implemented. And yes, removing bot leagues does have a positive effect on the amount of calculations and data storage.

One more aspect to consider: divisions that have active teams cannot be removed. The total amount of division removals will be less than suggested. This is truly a great example of a well prepared suggestion. Nice job tunjevina!
