I always invest 3 pts/week, so I have about 40 points to spend every season.
I always do group demonstration first, because there are always 6-7 five star prospects among those "1-2 stars" draftees. Then I scout those 5 star players and there is usually at least one with 4-5 star potential. That's my nr1 pick. I usually spend about 25 points by then.
The rest of the points I spend by scouting rest of the players in order.
I've been doing this for at least 20 seasons already, often I was at the end of the picking order, and the result is that I curently have 6 HOF potential players and 2 MVP.
I'm mainly looking for high potential players for training, so if you're aiming for same, give it a try.
