I don't mind the bidding process but the weekly salary jumps is stupid. It should be just like players, they go the whole season with the same salary and then get a pay hike the next season. The higher the level, the more of a hike.
The problem with the game is they try and fix things that are not a problem.
The attendance algorithm has been broken forever, but nothing. Perfect example...My team was 12-0, I lose a road game because of a deep cup run(won the cup game) and then my next home game 3000 less fans show up. That is stupid. A 12-1 team leading the league, just advanced to the final 4 of the cup and fans stay away.
It is like there are parts of this game being run on a windows XP server.

Ones that relate to BB:

Assistant Trainer (max 2, speeds up training, increases injury risk, slight boost to form)
Doctor (reduces injury risk + length)
Form Coach (raises player form i.e the Psychologist in BB)

Ones that don't:

Psychologist (raises Team Spirit and Confidence, no comparable element in BB)
Financial Director (basically increases the max cap allowed for hoarding money)
Tactical Assistant (HT allows tactical changes during the game based on criteria set pre-game, e.g if down 2-0 then bring on another striker. Not comparable to BB)

In my opinion the Hattrick system is very basic. You can go years without thinking about your staff, just set them to a season-long contract and set them to auto-renew at the end of it. As JoeMaverick says you can hire from level 1 to level 5, but staff is so cheap that mostly people hire level 4 or level 5, so again nothing to think about.

The only thing to consider is how to use your four slots - if you want to maximise training you hire two assistant trainers + doctor. If you are competing then you might want the Psychologist and Form Coach, maybe a Tactical Assistant, leaving only one slot for an assistant trainer or doctor.

Here is pretty much everything about coach

Coach abilities

Skill: A skilled coach knows the best way to train players in order to make them better. The more talented your coach is, the more effective training will be. The highest level a coach can be is excellent. All new teams get a passable coach to start with.

Leadership: Apart from running training sessions, your coach is also an inspirational source for your players. In general, your team spirit will be better if your coach is a good leader.

Tactics: Your coach can be offensive, defensive, or neutral, which (only) affects your team's performance during the match. An offensive coach improves your attack at some expense to your defense and a defensive coach improves your defense at some expense to your attack. A defensive coach improves defense slightly more than an offensive coach improves attacks. A neutral coach is neither offensive nor defensive, which means he doesn't help or hinder any sector.
Ability deterioration

After your coach has been in charge for one season, his leadership skill will start to slowly deteriorate. Once your coach reaches disastrous leadership, the deterioration starts affecting his trainer skill instead.
Change coach

If you are not satisfied with your coach you can either recruit a new coach from outside, or make one of your players the coach. You can do this from "Staff," under the "My Club" menu.

Remember, all new trainers of a certain skill level are equal. If you hire a coach with passable trainer skill for example, he always becomes "average" passable (an excellent coach, however, is only 1/2 step greater than a solid coach).

When you hire a new coach your old coach will remain in the team as a player, but he can never become a trainer again. And... you can not sell him, either. If you don't want to keep him, you will have to fire him.
Recruit an external coach

When you recruit a new coach you first decide what style of play you want your coach to implement. Then you decide how good you want him to be. Each combination of leadership and skill has a fixed price - the better the trainer the higher the price.
Make a player coach
When you turn a player into coach he will keep his current leadership. His experience determines how skilled he can become, and also how much his coaching course to reach a certain skill level costs. So, if you have a very experienced player with high leadership, this can be a real bargain. The player must, however, have been in your squad for at least a season (16 weeks) before you can make him a coach.

The match attendance formula. The punishment for even a minor overpricing is catastrophic. You can lose up to 30% of match income by raising just 5% maximum possible one. And it may even go worse when paying tax. No logics behind this, especially considering the fact that so many different factors affect the optimal ticket prices that it's hard to impossible to come up with ideal ones.
