Is there value in this game for the Monoskilled players? In other words, if I've got a SG who can shoot lights out and a PF who can rebound like Dennis Rodman used to rebound will they play better/the same/worse as a team than a group of more mediocre but well rounded players?
To start, it's not a good idea to have any players that can't defend at their respective positions. For a guard, any really low (1-3-ish) guard skills (JS/JR/OD/HA/PA/Dr) will likely be an issue at some point, and same for pf/c (IS/ID/RB, jury's still out on SB).
If youre going to build a team that only attacks inside, its not a huge deal to have really good shooting guards. But even then it helps, as teams will always go 2-3 and having guard that can shoot a little will really help. Likewise for a team that almost always plays outside. Inside scoring for your bigs is still nice to have, at least some of, to make the 1-3-1 def pay a little inside.
Then again, ive always tried to build a balanced team, while you can be successful building a team that much stronger outside or inside.
