I was kinda disappointed by the level of competition at the world cup, I understand most coubtries were missing players but still.I watched all usa games at the stadium but no team coild give them even a scare. Serbia started off great the first minutes with some good baseline cuts, and other teams could keep up for about 2 quarters. Too bad Spain couldnt make it to the finals, would be a crazy place in that stadium.

I totally agree with you.

I think most teams lack talents those days. Argentina is getting very old, Greece has not replaced Papaloukas-Spanoulis-Diamantidis, Spain is getting old as well, Croatia has 3 or 4 top players and thats all, Russia was not even there, Lithuania has Valenciunas but no more Jasikevicius etc. those were the teams that managed to challenge the US in the past 10 years.

I think thats also what explains the good results from Senegal and some other "small countries" in the WC (small in terms of basketbal !l).

Serbia has played well and Teodosic is a great player. But i am a bit surprised that Raduljica could be so dominant in the paint. Even France performed well with a young team and without Parker, which was a bit of a surprise.

I think, we have a "generational gap" with less very good international players. Actually when I look at the NBA, I cant think of any young european players coming at the level of Dirk, Ginobili, Parker, Gasol or even Kirlienko in his best years. U have mainly "role player" or "good average players" (Kanter, Asik, Batum, Teletovic for instance).

It will change one day hopefully !
