TGIF MANILA, team Polydozel: Who will rule?

"Survival of the fittest"

Some may detest this phrase, whether the teams are truly deserving. But whatever critics is backed at them, these two teams showed them that they are rightful at their own conferences. Backed up by their possibly archived conference final games.

Team Polydozel, although hailed "conference leaders", has been hacked with chemistry and experience issues, and predicted just as semis contender. Along with the fact that they will be facing the heavy favorite -l-ReD DrAg0nS-l-, team Polydozel realized how big their situation was. And they need to show people that they are, indeed, worthy.

"It's going to be a tough battle, facing former league I -l-ReD DrAg0nS-l-, they will certainly show that they are league one material. But, we, too, are former champions, and we also have to show that we are still in that caliber. So I think it will be a very interesting game." Polydozel guard Melencio tanas said.

Polydozel never won against -l-ReD DrAg0nS-l- in the regular season. And everyone think that third time's a charm. Indeed they were right.

Polydozel won by the score of 60 - 91, Polydozel fans roared once the fourth quarter started. Polydozel was relentless having 20+ ~ 30+ point lead in three quarters, and fans know that the last quarter is the team's favorite quarter. They had a bad last quarter though, but it never spared the guest team.

Although Polydozel got the home advantage, they still act as underdogs. And so, is TGIF MANILA.

TGIF MANILA was in the same situation, they were playing away against the fans and the hosts, LA_LAKERS28. They were on unfamiliar ground.

LA_LAKERS28 is one of the few teams who were replacements for the folding teams in league II.3(They were former Tagum City United, which was later on replaced by Jaguarz!!!), and they were honored a top place in the Big 8 conference. They also showed that handing over the top spot to them isn't going to be a cakewalk. and they proved others wrong by beating Ironmen in the quarterfinals.

Early predictions consider TGIF MANILA as another semis walk through. But they showed them all wrong by beating the LA_LAKERS28 by the score of 97-87.

Roberto Alfonso was the main man for TGIF MANILA, who scored 19 points, shooting 8 of 14 shots, and 20 rebounds, with 5 blocks, in 41 minutes.

"We were really hungry... we wanted that finals spot." says Alfonso. "We can't get the promotion opportunity without that finals spot."

TGIF MANILA and team Polydozel are both both products of their respective conference teams battling for the top spot. As they were all part of their own ties against other teams in their conference.

"This was our confirmation, there really can't be two or three teams on the number one spot. The semis games puts an end as to who is really the Big 8 and the Great 8 number ones..." says one league representative.

Now we know who is the number one in each conference, we will now wonder who is the number one in the league.

Bitter Revenge, Beasts tamed

The Jubas Beasts lost the League 1.1 Great 8 Finals 96-94(4094595) to their rivals the Celestial Punks in a very close game. Coach Alas says that he takes full responsibility for the loss. "After beating the Punks twice in a row I was confident in beating them again tonight. But I guess I forgot that they were the team who won 21 games in a row. Even with their so-called "janitors" coaching they still hung in there and eventually won the game." This would be the perfect time for the Punks revenge as the Beasts thrashed them in the last two meeting which coincidentally were big games for the Punks. The first one was the Philippines Cup and the second one is the Punks bid for a season sweep both of which were taken away by the Beasts.

The Beasts had a very good 1st quarter and led by 8 points by the end. But after the Punks made a rally to tie the game in the 2nd quarter and it was a see-saw battle from then on. The game was decided on the final 20 seconds of the game. With the Punks leading by 7 points Liang Wai "Laway" Cheng hoisted up a three-pointer and then was fouled by Olandria. Laway made the free-throw to make the four-point play. Then the Beasts intentionally fouled to stop the clock. Olandria made one of his freethrows to put the lead back up to 5 points. After the inbound, Laway Cheng spottted up to shoot another three. Pinzi was fouled and went to the line but missed the two free throws. Coach Alas called a time out to draw up a play. With the game on the line Noel Louzada forced-up a three for the win but rimmed off as the time expired. The Punks are the ones advancing to the finals.

"Clearly they had the better team. It's just a shame that nobody owns them who can celebrate their win. I saw great talent in that team, their Big Three (Caraballa(2430220), Olandria(3160569) and Estolaga(2430210)) they will be definitely be a great additions to anyones team. YOU can bet that we will bid for them once they become free agents." Coach Alas said in the post game interview.

Congrats to all the winners and good luck!!!

(4094595) LOL

^_^ sayang nga ininvite ko pa siya sa Jose Rizal Cup para makapagyabang siya pero as expected, Joey's scared to participate with his puny lil team. pero nonetheless, philippine league chamionship is going be a very tough match. a strong battle for inside shots and defending. Ateneo Jologs vs Celestial Fury.

napanod ko yung Great 8 semifinals, ang masasabi ko lang ay nakachamba celestial.

p.s.
(4094594) ROTFL tambak SMB sakin..

Schedules announced for the league II.3 Finals

After a long wait, the schedule for the league II.3 Season 4 Finals has been finally unraveled. Team Polydozel has the privilege to get the home court advantage on Game 1.

"This is a good sign for us, everyone who gets in the finals hopes to get the first game at home." says the Polydozel coach.

Part of the reason in getting the first game home court advantage is the lead won by team Polydozel against the lead won by TGIF MANILA. wherein the score is +31 to +10.

"We never thought that we'd get the home court, because we really thought that we will have a hard time against the Dragons... in case we win, we assume we would just win by a couple of points... or 10 points max... not 31." says Polydozel guard Mervyn Jemora.

"TGIF MANILA has a good chance to win by 15-20 points... so we thought that we would really get beaten in getting the home court advantage."

The first game is going to happen at Tuesday, 6pm, at the PAL Arena. It has been reported that it will be jam packed with fans and pundits alike, also with some of the league II.3 superstars. The upper part of the arena is undergoing the arena expansion and engineers thought that along with the safety measures and security response unit, the upper part may not be available at the game 1 Finals.

"We may accommodate the other audience to the arena, but some may be left standing while watching the games. Also, some may be transferred to the lower levels of the arena... or we may have the option to do "First come, first serve" basis on the lower Tier and at the court side." says Kristofer Souza, Polydozel PR manager.

It has been estimated that the arena is going to accommodate around 7000 people. Which is somewhat the average attendance per game. And, The arena being too small for the fan base has been the constant problem this season. Team Polydozel management reported earlier that they do not consider changing their Arena as their option but instead, they will being doing joint efforts from the PAL Arena management and Team Polydozel, to do a major arena change after the season. and during the course of Season 4, they have been doing minor arena expansions.

"We couldn't do major expansion during the season, or it may affect inconvenience to the audiences." says Cristobal Key, Polydozel trainer. "Arena expansion is somewhat hazardous to people, and we can't play or train effectively during the said expansion... so we decided to make the major loading of seats after the season... thank god the fans are super supportive." Says Key.

Teams excited at the upcoming Draft

The season is not yet over, but there are quite a buzz in the draft pool recently. Someone even noted that "players in this season's draft pool consists of the finest players ever to emerge in the big league."

Some league players are even anticipating on who's going to be on the teams and some web sites are already complete on making their "predictions".

www.philstar.com commented that "some draft opportunists consists of future hall of famers, all-star participants, and big game players". www.INQ7.net complimented this seasons draft for "allowing teams to have an in-depth analysis on players, and having the biggest lineup of draftees, every team may draft an all-star caliber of a player."

Players, including Batch 3, and future Polydozel sophomore Hipolito Guarnes commented that today's young stars may be overshadowed by the upcoming rookies.

"Team Polydozel recognizes gem players, and in today's draft, I think they wouldn't have a problem. They can pick any player with their eyes closed, and they can get a better player." says Guarnes.

Demonix gunner Antonio Gonzalez also has a share of thought in today's draft.

"New bloods playing in the league always excites me. As there are new opponents and new strategies may come into play." says Gonzales.

Cristobal Key, Polydozel trainer, is early anticipating the coming draft.

"Finals is just beginning, but these players from the pool are suddenly giving a buzz in the media. I have no complaints, they are all good, and potentially good."

"Our team really have problems in certain areas and we really need to make critical decisions on who's going to be our first pick. Even if we potentially get the last pick, it's our first pick that will be questioned... We may never get our preferred player by the coming of the second round. So we really have to be very careful" Key added.

Momentum building for TGIF MANILA

Finals Game 1 atmosphere is PAL Arena is soaring high. Two teams battling it out for the coveted trophy. Promotion is at stake. The pressure is building up for both teams, It's all a matter of which team is most composed. Today, TGIF MANILA comes out the most composed of the two.

TGIF MANILA silenced the early raucous of the audience and went away with an 89-83 win against team Polydozel. Taking the Game 1 victory, is a must for them.

"Having the Game 1 home advantage on a best of three series can also be a disadvantage, as they would relax and lose focus, and eventually, they underestimated our focus." Says TGIF MANILA forward Roberto Alfonso, who had a superb Finals performance, scoring 30 points, and 11 rebounds.

Ceasar Hijastro is also a notable player in the game. Asides from his 15 point, 5 rebound performance, Hijastro defenced well against Polydozel gunner men Guarnes and Corneja, in which, he outmaneuvered them with tenacious defense and supreme hustle. Thus, frustrating them with a combined score of 16 points.

"TGIF MANILA really read our play. They seem to know that we would push the ball to our gunmen. And Hijastro really did a good job in defending [Guarnes and Corneja]." says the Polydozel coach.

"The game really was interesting. the teams were duking it out. TGIF MANILA were really into the game, as team Polydozel never really had a lead in the game... quite bizarre, actually." says one sport analyst.

Now, the momentum that was once within the grasp of team Polydozel, shifts to TGIF MANILA as they play the host of game 2 of the league II.3 Finals. TGIF MANILA is one win away in obtaining promotion, unless, team Polydozel wants to make this a series.

"Maybe it's shivers on our stomachs that we lose, but we will retaliate on Saturday and make this even." Says Simeon Tongson, Polydozel center who had a finals performance of 22 points, 15 rebounds. "Then, we will have a game."
