I can't reveal specific skill-sets as I don't want to be giving other teams the psychological advantage of knowing just how good our team might be. However I will say that another stupid thing about this result is that our best interior defender on paper (the starting PF) had his direct match-up score 40 points like he wasn't even there. Meanwhile at C, Taiwan's C with a higher salary than the PF goes 2-10 against someone who can defend, but is there more for his offensive capabilities than his defensive stops.

the game engine is broken
all else equal, teams with more talent should win...didn't happen here

If I counted correctly, three point shots contested by your "PG" went in at a 7-15 clip. Even with a 3-2 zone, you had less total OD than your opponent had outside scoring despite the double GDP, and it certainly looks like your trainee was a hole in the zone. I know we've all struggled with just how dominant outside shooting has become, but I think in this case it's more of the bad matchup than the normal outside shooting dominance or bad luck.

how were you able to count?
I mean, I'm going to continue to be negative and build up my "GE is broken" kayfabe...that works better than admitting my team sucks hehe

Play by play. I did a control-F and searched for simonen and tried to keep track of how many times he was listed as the defender on a three point shot. When I'm being extremely pedantic I actually will track all shot types for the player in question and type it out in a notepad document, but in this case I decided just to focus on the threes because it was close to lunchtime and I was hungry. I just re-counted and got 7-15 again, but I'm still a little hungry.

so I should have played M2M and played the odds that one player beats me on 3s and not the entire team?
b'c the rest of the team went 2-9 from beyond the arc

That may have helped, or it might not have. If one of his guards or SF were a much worse 3 point shooter, maybe you'd lock him on that guy and hope that your guy sucks less. Maybe you have one of those lucky days where a guy that should hit 60% of his threes against him instead does something like 1-12, or maybe it's one of the admittedly rare occasions where the game almost notices the mismatch and he hits something like 6-8.
