Ardid and Shani started for the same reason that Cabading did. They are incredibly more skilled than the players you started. With the combination of 9+ players in your lineup and choosing something other than Strictly Follow. your coach went insane and ignored your lineup to start your more skilled players.

As for common knowledge, I'll point you to the Sticky at the top of this forum:

Wrong lineup used: It is currently possible that the AI coach will change the starting lineup, especially if he is given some freedom with substitutions. To avoid this problem, use the Strictly Follow Depth Chart setting.

I'm not saying it shouldn't be fixed, as currently any setting but Strictly Follow is broken. It royally sucks that you're now in the position you're in. It also sucks that without reading the stickies in an "off forum" that isn't normally in the forum lineup you wouldn't have known about this issue ahead of time. However, it is a known issue and precisely what happened to your team.

Cazzola is incredibly more skilled than Rabaud (not Cadabing), particularly at point, so he should have started if it was based on skill.

And yeah, the sticky in the bugs forum did not help. I don't think (m)any users come into this forum searching for this issue prior to having the AI completely mess up their line up, and I don't think this happens very often, so I still disagree that it's common knowledge. But fair enough.

I wish I could at least be given walkover minutes based on the line up I used, but I guess that's not a possibility. You don't have to reply again. I'll deal with it. I've had many lucky moments this season and getting massacred here evens it out.

I had something similar happen to me, and that's why I was advocating earlier in this thread to make it known to folks there is a known bug where you can only guarantee the starters you select will start if you use 'strictly follow depth chart'. It's too bad that the discussions seem to be mainly had in the bugs forum, and people generally find out about it after it happens to them.

In all seriousness, we're currently aware of only one bug with regard to submitting tactics....

Do you mean beyond the bug stated in the 'known bugs' stickied post? I recently had another case of my back-up starting in this game (32343295). Although it seems by the link in the post that you are aware of it and will deal with it when you do an overhaul of the GE, which I'm totally fine with, but people should be made aware to use 'strictly follow depth chart' to avoid those cases.

I see you already discussed this subject with another user, so I'll respond directly to you.
Today, I played TIE and my enthusiasm went from 7 to only 8. How do you explain that? I have been playing this game for quite some time now, and that just doesn't seem right. Something is definitely wrong with the way game engine calculates enthusiasm lately.
Now, I don't know if this is a bug, or just BB's attempt to lesser the effect of TIE's, but at this rate, there is hardly any point to playing TIE anymore.

And one more time.. just to make sure that enough people look into this.. I played TIE today, or if you wish, last night, and my enthusiasm only went up +1, from 7 to 8. I don't think that is normal, but what do you think?
Any thoughts? Is it a bug? Not a bug? If not a bug, should BB still do something about it? Thank you.

I don't have any explanation, your case is very different from the one discussed previously.

If your enthusiasm was 7 today before the game and was only 8 after the game and before the daily update, it's a bug.

*knock on wood* I am glad I have never suffered any of those bugs with formations and enthusiasm *knock on wood again*

I would appreciate if someone from BB could address this. I think I have a valid concern here and I really don't see a single reason why my question would be ignored for this long.

I know very well that enthusiasm tend to go back to 5, but I checked it only a couple of hours after my TIE game took place. You can't possibly argue that tendency of enthusiasm to go back to its default level is so severe that in only a couple of hours effects of TIE are almost completely negated. I mean, at this rate there is almost no point in playing TIE. And I know for a fact that that was not the case in the past.
When I decided to TIE that game, I thought I was doing something smart, something that will benefit me in long term, but in reality all I did was help my opponent to land me the most embarrassing defeat of the season (-46) which had an immediate impact on my economy, and may I add, will most likely have just as severe effect on my future games attendance. And for what? Three days later I'm back to almost exact same enthusiasm level as I was before that TIE.
If this is indeed not a bug, but rather one of the normal features of new engine, BB should definitely reevaluate their latest decisions in that respect. I know, I know, it seems like I brag a lot, but just look around the forum.. do you see how many users are dissatisfied with the way this game engine works?

And one more thing.. you said, and I'll quote you:
Enthusiasm tend to go back to 5 and when you are only at 7, furthermore if it's a low 7, enthusiasm will not jump to high value. Then, you wait one day to see it go to 8, so there was already an enthusiasm update done.
Note that I put some of your words in Bold.

Now, this is copy-pasted from our game manual section:
Enthusiasm
You can decide how hard you want you team to try on any given day (except in a scrimmage, where your team is just going to try as hard as they normally do because the coach is watching). Your team has a baseline level of enthusiasm that they bring to the game, and the more enthusiastic your team is, the harder they will be able to play. You can also tell your team to try harder in an important game (Crunch Time), although they'll need some time to recover over the next week or two. Alternatively, you can Take it Easy in a game so that your team will be able to play harder in the future. In addition, your team's enthusiasm tends back towards the default value of 5 over time. The further away enthusiasm is from 5, the more quickly it will tend back towards 5. Enthusiasm will always reach 5 during the offseason.

Here I also put some words in Bold. Do you see where I'm going at with this?
