No was, Italia got luck, that's all

NT team :

S5 European Championship : Win in last second against france, who get's his Center injured in the last quarter. Defeated by spain in final.

we were lucky sometimes, this is sure...but i really think we weren't lucky in this competition...

- we played against france in semifinal, while spain played against israel, who played CT the match before...so...spanish TIE against israel (1976)

- we played final against spain without maybe our best player, ugo lipparini (676015),and without one of our best shooter, Alinari: they injured before the final...

and we lost final just for 5 points...not so lucky

Just as a point of curiousity, of all the Italians posting, how many of you have national team players of any sort or how many of you are coaches? Those players get all the credit in the world.

Verrinho:zero NT or junior NT players. Not a NT or U21 NT coach.
SpicyMchaggis:zero NT or junior NT players. Not a NT or U21 NT coach.
Darking:zero NT or junior NT players. Not a NT or U21 NT coach.
Yuzza:zero NT or junior NT players. Not a NT or U21 NT coach.
Danni Ferri:best post, Italian NT Manager, congratulations on your win.

Isn't the whole point to have the entire national community participate regardless of whether a user has a particular player involved? While I don't have any Canadian NT players (drafts have been useless and most Canadian users hoard the good players without training), I have assisted with strategy when asked - although I would have likely needed to abstain against Germany and Oberortner.

I guess it comes down to what you feel the need to take pride in. I imagine in real life sports when your team does well you are the kind of fan that says "we are number 1!" even when you never touched the field. To me, yeah, the only ones that can basically flaunt the win are the people who were directly a part of it. If you were on the staff, congratulations, winning twice and against such stiff competition is an accomplishment. I think its funny how bad you are at being a humble winner though.\

JBM: I think all of the Italian user base can take pride in their world cup success I guess the way that specifically Verrinho is acting is a little ridiculous but this arguement won't go anywhere.

I'll exit this thread, congrats to Italy on their win.

Accept that some days you are the pigeon and some days you are the statue. Dilbert

Well, the fact is that Italy is now the most titled nation in BB, and we can only congrats them for these victories.

Doesn't mean that it's the best, we've seen it in U21 European final were only a lack of stamina made them win in a game France dominated [;)] (as you may all have noticed, tactics are far more important than match ratings).

Let's just try to beat them in next competitions [:)]

Yes, France was very strong in the juniores final, but it's also true that Italy was without his best 21yo players, who had to play against Spain in the major championship. Against players like Mathiot it's not easy without Porzionato, Zizzoli, Alinari, Scocchi, Cecchi...However, France has a great juniores team

true, after all standings aren't always reliable in real life too: Marcelo Rios, J.C. Ferrero and Andy Roddick have all been n1 despite playing against Agassi, Sampras and Federer :D

True, my point was more about proclamations who No.1 in rankings will be (it could be counted in advance) tha about realiability. Although i don't think those rankings are bad, they are pratty good. Both Spain and Italy are (among others) powerhouses, it's obvious. (U21 ranking is realiable strongly as continental rankings since little interaction between federations has taken place - this season will say more).
