I post fairly often, but found that alot of threads died because people feared the ' 1 ballerz'. For the record I do not post as much as Naker, he is a freak of nature and must have blisters on his fingers :)

But seriously, I don't see the necessity in any rating scheme. Every scheme is flawed. If any hierarchy is to be made, it shouldn't be made from a post rating system. It should be constructed and conditioned per an individuals genuine feelings on a poster. Generally it's not difficult to separate right from wrong. It's not difficult to spot really helpful people. I take what I see from some people as gospel but they're not the only helpful people. The forums are a community, I've never understood ratings in the first place. The old ratings were a huge negative, though (to me).

I participate on different forum (the forums of another simulation game; a game that is awful in contrast to this awesome game) and the community on the forums and the navigation and smoothness of the forum are probably the biggest reasons the game functions and succeeds. 80% of the user base plays the game because of the forums and forum community. Maybe I should take this to suggestions, but I think this game could really boom with revamped forums. Frankly, these forums aren't very inviting. A more open and clean forum would be conducive to increased activity and who knows where that would lead.

I didn't care at the end there is people coming from all the world and is also possible to find very young guy.
The introduction of the balls created only flames and bad feeling with the forum, I'm glad they removed it (even after ages)

Frankly, these forums aren't very inviting. A more open and clean forum would be conducive to increased activity and who knows where that would lead.

90% of internet forums list the user's post count but don't include any sort of rating system. BB is special :p

Yes but if we had post counts, only then can we see evidence of Edju having no life.

The new system is clearly better than the old system, but it doesn't really make a difference as it doesn't matter. I'm with some of the other guys who think a different forum software would be better. The only downside is that if you use a different forum software you might not be able to incorporate the country and division a team is in. Other than that, new forums would allow for a much easier feel.
I think a better system than this one that I've seen on some forums is the "reputation" system. People can either like or dislike your post. The affected user can see who did what and for which posts of his. Then, based on the user's reputation that repped the other guy, the other guy's reputation is affected.

In other words, A has a 6 reputation. A likes B's post. B's reputation goes up to 2. However if A only has 1 reputation, B's reputation only goes up a fraction.

It's a good system imo, but again, Balls/Reputation/Karma/Post Count is all useless. Honestly, when I want to know if I should trust one's advice I just look at what division they're in and how much I've agreed with them in the past as the BB community on the forums is quite small.
