Long menu. When I drive somewhere I opt for the fastest route; and in the case of the long menu I start by my destination, whereas with the short menu I need to do a bunch of navigating. Doesn't really make sense for me, although it's probably more appeasing to new users who don't want to be overwhelmed with choices - the likely reason why it's recommended.

but if the idea of short menu was to be short and useful it isn´t works.

Looks like it works for many of us.

Looks like it doesn't work for the vast majority of us.

I gave the short menu a chance but I don't like having to leave it to use the page-specific dropdowns.

Maybe if the short menu itself expanded to show suboptions. I mean, I go to my schedule, roster and stats ALL THE TIME, it shouldn't take multiple page loads and additional menus to get there. It would be nice if the menu were customizable to show whatever pages you want (though there would still have to be an intelligent default setting for the sake of new players).

I agree that the long menu is too long. Plenty of the links on it are unimportant to a majority of players (Federations, National Team related pages, various administration type things) but the short menu is too short, so I'll take some screen clutter I can ignore over some inconvenience I have to put up with.

The redesing don´t works fine, i used short menu for 3 or 4 month and you need always one click more than using long menu.

I don't see how you expected anything else, and the idea of the short menu isn't to click less.

And how is it a good idea then? Why would I want to click more?

Perhaps having to make two clicks instead of one it's a cost of the short menu (like having to re-learn were all the things are...).

But there might be some benefits from it: improved load time (due to a page with less links), more space to add other kind of stuff in the future(similar to the "Your next game" feature or other one that require space), a less crowed page and a simpler interface for new users (having to "dominate" all the links presented might be seen as something a little bit intimidating for some new users).

And let's be honest, having to click twice instead of once is not a big deal, what I think was a mistake is that BBs did not try to correctly show where you could find the features removed from the long menu. This might be a first approach trying to see if users will find interesting to explore the new site, but when a lot of people started having troubles to find the most fundamental links I did not percieve a reaction to it from BBs, this might forced some users to return to the long menu ending with a really bad experience of the new one.

Result: Even now we can see people who does not know how to use the short menu and there is a lot of people complaining about clicks (wich is not the most important thing in my view) when this might be just a way of complaining for the really bad experience they have with the short menu (people who complained about it could only read something like "you well get used to it" or "there is not a coming back thing for this") chosing to return to the long one. And obviously, two clicks instead of one arose as an argument.

For me, it takes me less time to click twice than to scroll like crazy to find the one specific line in the long menu. Maybe I am just an idiot, this impromptu poll shows there are some other idiots like me.

i find it amusing... though i didn't rate it because i don't think it needs to be...

and laughing about it overshadows the thought of rating the post... :)

"Vast majority" clearly overstates the case.
