Great 8 Starters

The Great 8 starters are made up of players ranging in ages 21-29 from NEWBak Ku Teh Kings and KKTAN.

PG Sapian Bin Bidi - NEWBak Ku Teh Kings
Stats: 33.0mpg, 19.9ppg, 61.8 FG%,, 3.2rpg, 2.2spg

Sapian is pick no 22 in season 17 for the NEWBak Ku Teh Kings. During this time, over months of gruelling training, Sapian has improved leaps and bounds and is this getting his 1st all-star nod from the fans of league II.1. Sapian is the offensive spark of the Kings. Able to get hot and pour in points in a flash, he's unstoppable once he gets it going. Also a part time pickpocket with his great defence, Sapian electrifies crowds with breakaway dunks from lazy passes from the opponents. All these also earned him a spot in the Singapore U21 team which he has been starting mainly. Kings GM mentioned Sapian will eventually be one of the key players in the King's future.

SG Raivis Feldblums - KKTAN
Stats: 35.4mpg, 16.6ppg, 50.6 FG% 40.5 3FG%, 2.9rpg, 3.3apg

Sharpshooter Raivis Feldblums came with a hefty pricetag of $1 200 000 in season 18 but it was worth every dollar. Raivis Feldblums is tough to guard because of his great ability to catch and launch the ball with precision. More often than not, with the clock winding down and the options running out, the ball will be passed to Raivis Feldblums to work his magic on the offensive end. He is also the last person any opponent would probably want to leave alone behind the 3pt line where he is shooting a good percentage. Fans will definitely be entertained with Raivis Feldblums' silky smooth jumpers during the all-star game.

SF Vitaly Murashev - NEWBak Ku Teh Kings
Stats: 24.8mpg, 14.2 ppg, 65.5 FG%, 4.7rpg, 2.0apg

Versatile F-G Vitaly Murashev, bought by the Kings for $459 000 during a roster upgraded in season 19 is a surprise starter for the all-star games. Nonetheless Kings fans are still delighted. Vitaly Murashev does have strong games this season like a 31pt, 10 reb game Kampong Pachitan Reggae Boys during the cup game but what probably garnered votes for him is his ability to dunk, monstrously. Vitaly loves to take the ball to the rack and finish up strong right in the face of the opponent, stepping on their tails at times, but drives the fans crazy during the home games. Dunks will not be boring during this all-star when Vitaly decides to take it all the way.

PF Jonathan Tulod - KKTAN
Stats: 36.8mpg, 18.1ppg, 58.3 FG%, 12.6rpg, 1.2spg

Filipino Jonathan Tulod was brought to Singapore to join KKTAN in season 20 with a huge $1 050 000. After 1.5 seasons, it has certainly paid off as Jonathan is not only one of the favourites of KKTAN fans, he got his all-star start this season. Jonathan can score in a variety of ways. He has the quickness to beat stronger and mostly taller PFs or he can pull up a jumper when enemy PF made a mistake of giving him space or he can also post up when matched up against a smaller PF. This versatility has certainly been a welcome addition to KKTAN who would want to be firmly sitting at 2nd place at the end of the regular season. Fans will be treated to how, at times gracefully, Jonathan attacks the basket with his moves.

C So You Xiang - NEWBak Ku Teh Kings
Stats: 25.5mpg, 13.0ppg, 60.5 FG%, 11.2rpg, 2.2apg

Big man So You Xiang was bought by NEWBak Ku Teh Kings for $900 200 in season 21. Averaging a double double per game, So You Xiang provides the defence in the middle that makes other teams think twice when they want to drive all the way to the hoop. So You Xiang not only provides air-tight defence around the post, he also can dish it out, a must have requirement for the ball movement heavy offense of the Kings, when needed to. He is a good example that you can be an all-star without pouring in 30ppg, just playing solid defence and crashing the boards every night can earn the votes of fans.

Great 8 Reserves

Great 8 Reserves are all veterans with battle scars, all aged 31 and above, from several other teams not named NEWBak Ku Teh Kings and KKTAN.

PG Theodore Thao - Final Fantasy XIII
Stats: 45.8mpg, 35.7ppg, 45.5 FG%, 6.2rpg, 3.5apg

Theodore Thao is the youngest at age 31, being bought for $299 000 by a rebuilding Final Fantasy XIII. Final Fantasy XIII fans didnt know what to expect when the GM has to travel abroad for a long while and selling off his entire team. However, the GM, controlling the team expertly overseas, came back and did a quick rebuild, saw some skill left in Theodore and purchased him and that move turned out to be a good one. Early on, coupled with returning league II.1 C Mo Jian Ting, Theodore still kept Final Fantasy XIII in the run for a playoff berth with his expert scoring ability. Fans quickly liked the popular guard and was promptly voted in to the all-star squad, also adding a scoring spark to the Great 8 all-star team.

SG Zhuang Shirong - Sugar Ray
Stats: 35.3mpg, 20.2ppg, 45.5 FG%, 3.8rpg, 3.0apg

Not-so-young but still speedy SG Zhuang Shirong was brought to Sugar Ray with $262 300 in season 20. He has been the top scorer of Sugar Ray since he joined the team and the team's go to guy and the most plays being set up for during offence. Having yet to score in single digits this season, Shirong is extremely capable of scoring from any spot. Sugar Ray fans are extremely pleased with the first of their 2 all-stars in their young roster. Watch for Shirong's scoring prowess during the all-star game, even at times blowing by double teams scoring the tough jumper.

SF Tariq Zuabi - Lionheart Jaguar
Stats: 26.9mpg, 14.7ppg, 50.8 FG%, 6.4rpg, 1.4spg

6'7" veteran SF, Tariq Zuabi was bought by Lionheart Jaguar in season 21 for a very lucky price of $77 777, explaining his favourite number and jersey number (well 7 of course!). Started off as a reserve early in the season, Tariq Zuabi eventually earned his starting spot after his scoring skyrocketed and averaging nearly..... well 7 rebounds during his time as a starter. Fans saw the 107% effort that Tariq puts in every night and voted him into the all-star team. He will use his veteran leadership and skills to deal against the younger players during the game itself. We will be holding a big banner with lots of 7s to cheer for Tariq.

PF Angelo Giorgi - Sugar Ray
Stats: 29.8mpg, 15.1ppg, 53.5 FG%, 10.9rpg, 2.9apg

The oldest of the Great 8 reserves, Angelo Giorgi, was bought with an auspicious amount of $123 456 in season 21 and has definitely brought luck and most importantly skill in the PF position to Sugar Ray. Team up with his war buddy, Zhuang Shirong, Angelo Giorgi has been playing very consistently, doing his best to bring back the win for Sugar Ray fans. He does average a double double, no easy feat in a competitive league like league II.1. This is his 1st all-star nod in league II.1 and be sure that he will make the full use of it, showing off his skills in what might be one of the last few all-star game he gets to play with his old age. Angelo also brings an experience voice in the locker room for Sugar Ray and that will happen during the all-star game too.

C Xosé Udias - Lionheart Jaguar
Stats: 35.5mpg, 18.5ppg, 58.9FG%, 11.0rpg, 2.9apg

Lionheart Jaguar went shopping for players in season 21 and bought 33 year old 6'8" veteran Xosé Udias at $214 200. Since then, Xosé Udias has given Jaguars a solid scoring option, as he leads the team in scoring and is a close 2nd in rebounding just behind Rubens Toledo. Teaming up with all-star reserve Tariq Zuabi, Xosé Udias has given the Jaguars a boost this season and playoff hopes. Even though he is undersized at 6'8", Xosé Udias uses his quickness and his athleticism to overcome other defending centers who towers over him.
