How good are the "Franchise Players," the 18 yo allstars that you get starting off?

Looks pretty rough from my scouting. He has only one guy over 3k, and that's his 19 year old forward with all-star potential.

This is one area where Buzzerbeater really needs to address the balance issues for new teams. Coming into this league, he's probably going to lose every game until he's relegated. How is that going to get someone excited about this game?

What they need to do is provide the new team with aging superstar, someone over age 33 with 10k+ salary but diminishing skills. That way they at least have someone who gives them a chance to compete.

It is not possible to win any games in this division with the roster you start with. You HAVE to make moves. The players you start with aren't worth a damn on the block so you have to use the starting money you get and the $50k new coach bonus each week. My best player that i started with (18yo all star) was a 52. I had some older guys who were a bit higher but not by much. He also has a higher salary then the guy he got so he is probably a 49-50.
I used most of my money to upgrade my arena, bc i figured i wouldnt get relegated and could save up. I also went super young and got a superior trainer. Im playing the long game so long as i dont go bankrupt

Yeah, an 18 y o 53 like Perp had doesn't seem to tip the scales much, those types of players are easily accessible for 50k or less.

Hm, thats a an interesting idea about having a competitive player. There is something to be said for having a mostly blank slate, though, I agree that a longer-view of training is likely still valid.

And I don't know, I think even if you aren't a top team, with the assets you get you aren't guaranteed to relegate.

Looks like my cup run will have to come to an end. I drew a top D3 team, and I don't want to kill my enthusiasm and risk losing a game this week, as I have Machete on Tuesday. Got some good money and made the fans happy at least. :)

Time to promote Generals ;p or it's a big rebuild next season

hullo everyone

I think this is the weakest (no offense to Machete) 1st seed in Great 8 for a while.... so very strong chance the big 8 winner promotes. Funny, because in my 1st few seasons in this league Great 8 was the strong conference, but then our guys also always promoted... so i guess that's why great 8 got weaker.

in 4-5 seasons it may switch around again

There we go, we were one off the last two weeks, but we got every single one of them this week.

Also thanks to Morgantown for Kamnik, dude cannot shoot but that defense is cool. The game with Tartans was the first time I saw a player injured after a flagrant foul (I know it happens a lot) so I got to see him play and it kind of won it for us in the 4th quarter. Good job shutting down Xaxim 100% ice cold, and good game.

I had to let my superior trainer go today. Not having a home game this week hurts. He was making more than my entire roster combined and I'm 130k in the hole bc of him 😂. It was a nice run as I got a ton of pops with him, but I couldn't risk dropping too far below the black bc I don't make much revenue and didn't want to risk getting the boot for being negative too long. Il have a game synopsis and a ASG write up today probably

Trainers are just so expensive. Back in the day in my previous iteration at this game (when I trained the USA's best guard of all time, Joe Bronson) I had a trainer with world-renowned skill. He was so freaking expensive, but he basically popped every single week, sometimes two or three pops a week for an extended period. Right now my trainer is advanced and he's good but I'm just not getting enough out of him.
