well i fiveball my friends that are reasonably intelligent at every opportunity, partly as insurance against the tools that might pick on them later.

your suggestions are all valid.

fundamentally, bb seems MUCH less sustainable than hattrick. the amount of staff bb pays vs hattrick is way out of whack. if hattrick has 15x the userbase, they should have at least 5-6x the full time paid staf. bb though has alot of people on their payroll, so they cut costs in other area, and raise revenue in shaky areas (i cant imagine playing as a non supporter the ads are so offensive on the eyes). they cut costs by skimping on servers hence the constant need to time people out, etc etc.

i dont feel like doing a full blown case study, but while bb is a good and enjoyable game, the community aspect, which leads to long time repeat supporter subscribers, is pretty off.

thats especially a shame because i genuinely liek charles, and he is an intelligent guy.

I can't argue with his CT in the first game of the season. He is at homeon tuesday and has a cup game. Plenty of time to make up the stagger.

He is 1-0 where I am 0-1 and I lose at home. Granted, had I kept the team I had, it might of been different, but I didn't.

Another double post. Your iPhone sucks, man.

Honestly, the ads aren't so bad anymore. Did you know that they make headphones with your favorite basketball team's logo on them? You can even get your favorite player's jersey number, too. And that Lexus is sharp.

Kidding aside, I vowed when my last supporter was running out that I wouldn't re-purchase supporter unless there were a few changes to the game, namely

1) Get rid of player potentials - (likely will never happen, but I despise this part of the game)

2) Fix the economy - (done, to a certain degree)

3) Fix SF training - (steps in the right direction, but nowhere near where it needs to be)

4) Speed up the site/fix timeouts - (the former rumored to be on the way)

I could probably bend on #1 if the other three were fixed to a degree that satisfied me (and #2 is pretty much there).

I am strongly considering supporter but adblock on firefox does wonders. It even wards away Russian mail order brides.

i have noscript. id consider adblock. in fairness, i partially renewed supporter last year after charles did fix something i thought was fairly important regarding federations.

i am 50-50 on renewing for this year. the price is actually reasonable, its just i dont know if i see the benefit, beyond subsidizing charles (who deserves it), and some of the other staff (who I'd rather not subsidize).

well, lets take a look at things. i'd say the amount of time to properly run a national team runs well into the double digits of hours per month.

to even be able to fairly observe the entire process, you probably need to spend at least a third to half of that time.

given your outright hostility towards me last season, why would i offer to help this term. i offered you the one calculator i had that gives me a comparitive advantage in game management (and incidentally jelme is one of two people that have looked at the calculator and he can vouch for it), and you refused. i figure you would be no more likely than random to take my advice, and its not like i'd change your mind, so why invest the time to observe the process? instead i observe the results, because that process takes only 20 minutes per month.

the results say your second term failed. in some senses it's not fair to judge on results, and i get that, but since i have a meaningful, demanding job, i am not going to take whats left of my free time (after managing a d2 team in bb and hattrick) and observe a team that i have no control of the decisions over. i'd rather spend what time i have working out theoretical calculations, and making guesses as to where the game engine and economy might go (even with the new tv money i guess south!)

i will be backing jelme to the hilt if he wants it, nd for that matter wozz hasnt needed it so far but he gets the same offering if he reaches out.

cabal might be a strong word but when i was on the nt forums seasons ago i think groupthink would be too weak of a word.

so i hope jelme shakes things up. either way though i think he has an open mind.

and i dont have a problem with you personally, just the way you managed the team.

with that said if you really wanted to talk strategy i;d be happy to. i'd also point out that i feel safe in saying i had 2 nbba managers bb-mail me after the last, most controversial election saying they backed me and the then #1 in the world saying he woulda voted for me if he could.

as an aside, it is why i will probably never win an election, because of the few people that do vote,

Right that's why---not because your only capacity is expressing intensely held beliefs supported by no argument.

, i offended just about everyone in the juice-cabal

But the best thing are your delusions... let me remind you; Juice did not even vote for me the first time I ran. We later became closer because we were...let's see... normal people in the same league with an interest in the NT... ah what an exclusive cabal!!!

by having the temerity to point out that a top 3-4 userbase should really do better than the quarters, or round of 16 or worse.

You know this might be a good argument; I happen to disagree with it, but I'd be willing to engage with it. I would have respected you if you provided your input on how to set a line-up before each game or how to set up the development of players before we got to face players that had been farmed by teams that had no other business but farm NT players.

We already cleared up that there was a misunderstanding here between us. but still it didn't stop you from your post-facto proclamations. The fact that all you can do is bark at people at election time is why I think you're a clown.

Congrats to Jelme, good luck man. I'll be honest, I didn't vote at all.. seemed moot. Jelme was the only serious candidate, and there was little to 0 chance he was going to lose.

I run noscript, seems to work for me. No ads at all.

And yes, the forums need some work.. but I feel the entire game does. I've hung around this long, so I'd like not to quit on it as I did Hattrick when I finally reached Div III after a long time, but saw no way to II or I without a bunch more people quitting the game. Here, I just have many issues with the game, with some that they don't want to change while others they can not reasonably change. The possible additons of more offense/defense tactics might keep me from hanging it up.. but who knows. Back to the forums, the social aspect is very much important to peeps and should be a very high priority. I could care less about the rating system, people will always disagree if you have a viewpoint and hence smack you down with a 1 ball corner pocket rating. It's the difficulty of use and the lack of keeping things civil. If there is one thing that does keep me from logging in is when I'm being disrespected on the forums, it just isn't.. erm, I don't know, cool.. fun. In my case it was one of the Mods being an ass for no reason, what am I going to do about that?

Here's to Jelme fully occupying his time with the U21s!
