📊 Big 8 Midseason Check-In
If the Great 8 has been a food fight, the Big 8 has been more like trench warfare—gritty, bruising, and occasionally beautiful. Juggernauts are emerging with even with big questions. Here’s to the first “half”!

Wobbles🏀
The machine. Wobbles lead the Big 8 behind an absurd +63 rebounding margin over the last three games, powered by Samara (league leader in threes, 33 triples) and Rivera’s do-it-all lines (16/11/11 triple-double earlier this season). Even better: Er-Rai, the league’s FG% leader, will be healthy in time to start the All-Star game. They share the ball, control the glass, and punish mistakes. Everyone else in the Big 8 isn’t chasing wins, they’re chasing Wobbles.

Meridian Hill McMornings🏰
The most balanced squad in the league. They lead the entire league in rebounding (708 boards) and have two All-Star anchors: Nash orchestrating from outside, Clemens doing a little of everything (26/18/12 triple-double). Rosenthal is steady as ever, and they grind teams down with possession after possession. Meridian doesn’t blow you away—they just slowly squeeze the air out of the game until you forget what offense feels like.

Innovatus🚀
Talent everywhere, but consistency is another story. Zigui (24/13 averages) still dominates, and Ikoma (Japanese NT starter, 33/10 ast night) has blossomed into a star acquisition. Reese, however, can go from flamethrower to icebox in one night. They’re explosive when the perimeter clicks, but vulnerable when opponents attack inside. Innovatus is the league’s roller coaster—thrilling, terrifying, and maybe a little nauseating (especially if you’ve been high on them with FanDuel™)

The Reductions🥱
They don’t win pretty, but they win. Râsnoveanu (league-best 16.9 rebounds) is a walking board machine, and Ying Ming can swing games when hot. Goundo has earned his spot as the sixth man. There have been highs and lows, perhaps because they’re built like IKEA furniture: somehow still standing well after you thought they would collapse.

Tasty Tardsicles🍔
Wui Kwong dropped 37 with nine threes, Jimenez snatched 22 boards, and Lovaina posted a triple-double earlier this season. They move the ball (33 assists vs Ferth) and thrive on balanced contributions. The knock? When the outside shots don’t fall, the whole thing bogs down. They’re like my new air fryer—crispy and perfect when it’s humming…but soggy potato’s when it’s not.

Bench Mob🪑
The ultimate “good, not great” squad. Daigle and Huffman carry scoring loads, and McFadden has held his own in the paint. But inconsistency kills them—they’ll look like giant killers one night and flat the next. Top-3 in rebounds, but efficiency lags, and turnovers add up. They’re occasionally brilliant, but half the time you forget they exist until the fourth quarter.

BC Lituanica📉
The lights. The drama. The front office has had this squad on the trade block all season long. Pessach is still an All-Star lock, Baratović racks up assists, and Skrzypacz adds interior balance. If that trade block weren’t so big, they could be the league’s biggest wild card. Half the roster’s on the block, the other half’s checking Zillow listings in Poland.

FR-S🚨
Zviedris is an MVP candidate, full stop: 24.8 pts, 14 reb, efficiency 31.8. He’s unstoppable inside and keeps them competitive every night. The problem? Almost no one else helps. Rocher’s has tried, but his production is too rare. Their pace is high, but efficiency is brutal. FR-S has to decide if it wants to be a fleshed out roster or just a Zviedris mixtape.

Closing Thoughts🔮
Wobbles and Meridian look built for the playoffs, Innovatus has a ceiling as high as anyone, and Zviedris is trying to drag FR-S out of the cellar. Lit could rewrite the second half while Tasty and Reductions are scrapping to prove they belong.

Hey man,

I was thinking about your post-game summaries. It is amazing how much time you put into them. I believe at the first game of the year you may have used chat gpt, and it was pretty good.

Anyway, the point is I think the system and write ups you have would be great for the whole league community. I know you said you were hoping with the new software you’d be able to scrape and collect data easier, maybe even automate the process, but I think it’d be easier for developers while implementing new code.

It’s your property, but I think if you shared with the developers, they should at least give you a free lifetime membership on the site, I know I sure would. If you feel strange about approaching them, or decide you do want to do it, I can post it on the forum and get some feedback. I think this would make a great addition to the game for everybody.

Cheers,
Wobbles

We're a Zviedris mixtape...

I missed out on a player I think I could have trained to re place him, now it's time for the long and hard decision on whether I need to completely detonate the team instead of retool...

I just don't think I can get enough defense to be competitive...

Thanks for the kind words. Feel free to talk to folks about this kind of stuff. My goal is to help the league feel more engaged, even in games we’d otherwise ignore (looking at you, White Walkers). In the larger scope, developing something that builds more of a narrative might make it more interesting for new managers to attach to the game in the early days of training scrubs and building their arena. That rabbit hole is deep and I’m not too keen to try and run down everyone else’s ideas on that front.

I’m just having a little fun and I’d rather not be “on the hook” for doing it if my available time shifted. Also, I’m a big fan of paying to support the things I enjoy, so I’m more than happy to give them my $30/yr (or whatever it is) to support the game. Who knows if it’s being developed further, but I’m enjoying the weird challenge of the game.

Funny how my All-Stars save their superpowers for the All-Star game while my main team is out here auditioning for a comedy show.

Small kudos to me & Ferth for riding this train out to the Sweet Sixteen. Nice job!

I'm also proud to say that we are two the oldest two teams in this game... seasons 2 & 4 respectively.

Our rewards? NBBA teams in the tournament this week...

anyway. nice job arthoferth!

📅 Game 14 (Saturday, Aug 30, 2025)
If you like blowouts, free throws, and a little late-game chaos, Week 14 had you covered. Delta stole one at the horn, BC Lit looked alive, and the Reductions keep sprinkling their mystery dust on close games. Let’s roll.

🌟 Game of the Night: Meridian 96 – Delta 98 💊🏰
Drag-out finish at tetrahydrocannibinol Arena (character count killer, thanks Delta). With 30 seconds left, Delta clung to a 93–96 edge until Nash—still fuming from his All-Star snub—buried a cold-blooded triple to tie it. Cue McNally: career night capped by a floater over Adams that was swatted clean…until the refs called goaltend. Game over—you decide whether it was the right call. Delta celebrates, Meridian grumbles, and everyone agrees this one felt like the playoffs.

📈 BC Lituanica 118 – Ferth 111
All about timing. Deadlocked after three, BC Lit erupted for 36 in the 4th. Pessach was everywhere (38/4/9), Baratović dished 11, and Lit racked up 30 assists between only 3 players. Forrai fired in 35 but added 6 turnovers—big buckets, costly mistakes. A reminder: when BC Lit moves the ball, they’re dangerous. The transfer list continues to loom…

🍀 Reductions 77 – Kiwi 76
Another nail-biter, another win. Up 9 early in the 4th, Reductions coughed it up late—turnover with 13 seconds left nearly doomed them. Kiwi grabbed the board (shoutout to everyone’s favorite Banana Hammock), but Gaffney’s trigger-happy three bricked, and Ying Ming’s foul ended the threat. Reductions move to 4-1 in games decided by 2 or fewer. Luck? Magic? Bribes? Whatever it is, it works.

🚀 Innovatus 109 – Llama 93
They turned The Barn into a petting zoo. Zigui (26/20, 8 OR) dominated inside, Ikoma controlled tempo, and Innovatus never let go. Llama couldn’t keep pace without a star to steady the ship. Another road scalp for a squad that plays its best ball on the road.

🍔 Tasty 117 – California Supreme 101
Wrong defense, wrong night for Cali. Benoit was absurdly efficient (21/18 on 10–13 shooting), Wui Kwong and crew stacked seven players in double figures, and Tasty moved it beautifully (33 assists). Suggs (35 pts) kept it respectable, but Supreme’s 29 rebounds total sunk them. Hard to win when you’re allergic to the glass.

🐅 Wasco 104 – Bench Mob 90
Bench wanted the upset, but Wasco’s frontcourt showed why they’re in first. Pisano (31/21) and Sorensen pounded the paint, Ascenfsão kept things balanced, and the Tigers walked away comfortable. Mob fought, but Wasco is just more steady.

🐗 Wellington 105 – FR-S 87
Zviedris did his usual (25/6/4), but FR-S had nothing left to say. Wellington methodically carved them apart—seven in double figures led by Wong and Bunn’s In-N-Out double double-doubles. Efficient, balanced, and never in doubt. FR-S is creeping toward auto-relegation territory.

🏀 Wobbles 132 – White Walkers 43
Brancato (28/25/6, 3 blk) looked like he was practicing post moves, Blum dropped a 21/11/11 triple-double off the bench, and Wobbles stacked 48 assists with 67 rebounds. Walkers walked.

📊 Stars of the Night
Brancato (Wobbles): 28/25/6, pure dominance.
Pisano (Wasco): 31/21, a bully night.
Pessach (BC Lit): 38/9, beast mode.
McNally (Delta): Career game, clutch goaltend gift.
Suggs (Cali): 35 pts, still carrying.

🔮 What It Means
Delta finally looked like their payroll, Reductions keep living on rabbit’s feet, and BC Lit reminded everyone they can still play. The worldwide-web of Wobbles, Wasco, and Wellington keep pounding, Innovatus keeps collecting road pelts, and Cali remains confusing.

Im waving the white flag... Anyone care to give me some advice on what level of OD is needed to succeed in D2? I'm trying to stock up on prospects I can develop for my return to D2 in a few more seasons...

I'm sure its high, although I've always sought it out on all 5 starters.... Got bounced pretty fast for this issue in my one NBBA season...

one of the things that has always annoyed me though, is that it's hard to get good outside shooting; and (imho) extra TS use seems to frequently not make a difference, despite what I would think would be the first thing to be affected by that.

Also aging... 21 yos cant hold stamina, but 35 yos have 18 D? Keep your decent jumper, but OD & JR should go first.
(sitting here as a lifelong player at 46. Defending drives & good exterior D is super hard to maintain).

but also, I have been very poorly engaged in the chats & secondary BB spots, like dischord. Is this true? Are these things debated elsehere? who knows... So, I am probably just a whiner... Still like the game's bones. mostly.
