its a question of maximize the profit using every tool you have available.

could not agree more. i've won my league having near 40% less salary's than my opponent in finals.

please keep telling how easy and effective this strategy is..
so, many people go tanking and BBs have to find a smarter way of preventing this..

tanking is simply against the nature of sports and it's punished by the unhappy fans in real life..
lets just forget about the arena income..
if a team had tried tanking in real life, it would not even get $1k merchandising profit..

i see some people trying to defend tanking with some arguments like the success rate of this strategy..
those people have no rights to complain about any unfairness in this game, even the uninformed engine updates..
a few hundred bucks tanking teams earn weekly is totally an undeserved income..
you can lose 10 consecutive games with a bunch of bench warmers although you have millions in the bank and the fans still continue watching your games and buying jerseys..
this is totally ridicolous and i'm expecting a serious move from BBs..

i'm happy this subject is in Global forum now and i want to thank Brian and Damena because of their honesty although they are still tanking..

I agree to 100% !

Huh? Tanking happens all the time in every major sport (in America, at least).

We just call it rebuilding.

Not a bit of it. I was hoping other top managers did.

I was more interested in this section though
Finally, owners agreed to the player demand that trainers, some of whom haven’t changed their methods in over ten seasons, take a refresher course, bringing them up-to-date with the latest equipment and techniques. A particular emphasis of modern techniques seems to be cross-training, and by the start of season 17, we expect that just as improvement in one skill seems to be linked to related skills, now improvement in one skill will in addition be linked, more weakly, even to seemingly unrelated skills.

I'm really liking this. If this isn't warning enough for the most of you than I don't know what is. Those training solely based on the elastic effect may have to find new methods as the elastic effect could become invalid. However it will be fun to find those random pops. Maybe rebounding or passing will finally get a secondary pop. This is a great change.

It doesn't mean anything, just fluff for the writing. It's just a "reason" that a team with a floor of 70K and 40K in player salaries has to pay out another 30K. He's paying it in "pension" to old retired players.

I never understood the elastic effect trick anyway.
Apparently you don't train the weakness of your player until he is were you want him to be at his other skills, then you use the elastic effect to train his weakness quicker than normal?

Ok, so training his weak skill was quicker. However, where is the evidence that the time you save training that weak skill isn't negated by the fact it took you longer for his other skills?

To be honest I get as much as you do about the elastic effect. Just enough to know that it could be in jeopardy if training was changed up slightly

Owners of the strongest teams grew tired of handing a large share of television revenue to teams that didn’t contribute to the strength of their league -- such teams tanking a season would generally turn out to be making a mistake, but that mistake also dragged down television revenue and fan interest for the other teams in their league.

My bank account and great young players created from training while tanking are merely a mirage. It seems I've made a mistake. What have I done!

edit - well, Charles did say "generally", i guess
