Almost 4 seasons after,a post like yours is written..

You can find some posts from me when i was spanish DT coach at the end of season 12 saying how bad is to defend a LI with a 2-3, specially when we had to play against the best LI attack(in that moment was Itally).

This B3 most of the teams are done like this:

Mass OD in PG-SG-SF(using a PG or SG in SF position) and then 2 good inside players in PF-C to play LI.

And some others are exactly the same but playing with a real SF.


In other words, 2-3 'sux' there's an imbalance between defensive zones and inside box doesn't seem to fix it.


PD: As a manager next season i probably change to train only OD and play LI if nothing it's done.

PD2: I still think that DP throw this B3 when he played 2-3, he was going to win Hostivar with m2m for 5-10 points.

I knew this would happen eventually. Some small country team saving up tons of money and then sustaining salary monsters to win B3.

In reality there are really different situation on offensive tactics depending on the leagues that are split based on the economic possibilities of the teams

At low level,outside tactics are still clearly advantaged,because it's difficult to sustain big mans that can really do the difference,while guards with the same salary can dominate this kind of league

At medium level,generally guards and outside tactics are still the key to win,while you need to build a decent inside attack to surprise your adevrsary when the fight among the guards is close

At high level,it's more about the way the single teams are built and the strength of the players that really the kind of tactic used,becuse the level of the players allow the teams to use almost all the tactics with good results
The fact that you can find top class big man at really ridicoulous prices,means that the teams that are fighting for B3/cup can become stronger in an easier and cheaper way buying big mans,so LI became very powerful in this kind of competitions,but more because of market situation that really because of a better efficiency of this tactic.In addition,there isn't a specific defence for inside tactics that actually works,so we are seeing the incredible situation where in B3 the best teams use LI,while a large part of the world find more efficient to play with outside tactics

P.S. In Nts the speech is different because generally these players have great secondary skills,so the coach play more on that and on TS and GS than on any other thing
