I spent a lot on players and staff members, completely neglecting continued profits for my team. (I frequently buy/sell players to compensate for that). But little did I know it would set me back by the off-season. I'm pretty new to the game (three weeks), so I never took that into account.

Team Status:

a. Salaries are near the league average
- Bought a Lvl 5 Trainer (big, big salary) / Everyone else is Lvl 2
- Bought around four $5k/week players (some of them are pretty old, so I guess their salary will decrease next season)

(player salaries, however, are below average. but staff salaries are pretty above average)

b. Income generated from home games are around the league average
c. Merchandise is HELLA low

Is it advisable to sell some of my players and find a trainer w/ only a level 4 status? Or should I let my team put itself into debt (I don't think it'll go less than -$500k) and simply push ticket prices higher? (My arena is usually 85-97% full)

get a level one trainer for the next few weeks and train stamina -- save money, improve your team a bit. next season, get a level 4 max, level 3 would be ok. your players, especially the young ones, are not that far from league norms, so focus on training say 4 players -- i think you have 4 such players 20 and below. save what you can from your draft -- exchange draftee for high priced veteran; at least consider it. i think in your league you can be reasonably competitive next season, so try to do so; it will help with attendance and revenues. build up savings. train. train. and then train some more. don't worry about the transfer list till late next season, when you sale maybe one of your trainees to someone who would be desperate.

30-31 year old players could be service-able, for next season, at least. 35 year olds would start to worn out... try to sell him next season in minimum.

raising prices now wouldn't solve your problem as your last game is still in november, but raising prices could help you next season...

set your draft scouting to zero before your last game (in case you invest on it)... this would save you at least 10k (or whatever setting you pushed through)... set it back on tuesday (or just set it when next season league game starts... just for the sake of saving money).

don't sell staff or you would compensate on the fired staff's salary... just deal with their salaries for the mean time... you could lose more on a time when you need money the most.

In other economic news, the worldwide downturn has reminded both players and owners that BuzzerBeater salaries cannot continue to rise forever. The best players in the game might be getting better, but the best teams aren't taking in any more money, and so player salaries will begin levelling out. Player skills will continue to develop normally, but each offseason the players union will scale salaries to match the total revenue available for them to distribute. Those who have been using salary as a proxy for overall skill should be warned that this relationship will be changing.


This was from the news published 8th September 2009. I am wondering if anyone has any idea on the following:

1. How will the player salary be revised? Is it dependant on whether or not you had revenue during the offseason or is it dependant on the average income for the whole season?

2. Is there a possibility the player's salary will increase with this change or is it only to revise to a lower salary?

3. Will the salary revision only be applicable during the offseason or is it permanent?

4. Is the salary revision only done on the first week of offseason or will be be continuously reviewed every week during economic update?

4. afaik only at the beginning

And for the rest, i will say it depends on gloabl econic and not the microsystem of a team, and the effect should be very small in the beginning but they should go down.
