I agree that your proposal for group B skill would give more detailed informations. Perhaps too detailed: don't you feel that a margin of uncertainity adding some 'suspence' will make the draft system more interesting? My wish is something between a mathematic system and a totally random (as the case now) one

Interesting idea. Think there is definitely the basis of a new system there in the idea of weekly scout reports. You'd need somewhere to store them and refer back to.

I understand your wish, but inserting some skills totally different in a same group will create the same current situation:you will have a little more informations but however some of them will be useless.I'd like to have less information, but useful, than many useless information.Inserting Stamina and Free Throws with Is,Id,Reb and shot blocking will gave inequalities to the system:who is searching a guard should have more detailed informations(because a guard needs all of the first 6 skills,in different measures of course) than who is searching a big man(the results of stamina and free throws could influence too much the results of the second observation
I'd prefer to not have informations about stamina and free throws,if is necessary to make a fair system

a great idea but i would like to suggest even more improvements

at the start of the season the draft list should be created and all we see is a blank page

each week you spend your money just as you do now and you choose which players you scout from the list this would be heaps more fun and really interesting if you forget to select then the scouting would be random as it is now

scouted once you see
position, one game stats - can be misleading, height (how can you scout a pg and not notice that he is 7'1" tall?), age and star rating

scouted twice you see
another game stats, grade rating as it is, and a random (accurate within one point) comment such as
"needs to work on his driving"
"establishes himself well for rebounds"
"has great lateral quickness and quick hands on defence"
one comment per stat per level (and only atrocious to respectable is needed) is all that is needed, 2 or 3 would be better

scouted three times
a third game stats, ball potential as it is and another random comment

scouted four + times (seems a waste but if they want to)
a new set of game stats and another two random comments

then at the end of the season you set your picks

heaps better yes

And maybe if we could select which player to scout, we could also know ahead of time what position they play (or at least how tall they are) so we could appropriately scout players we want. Why would a team executive tell his scout to go out and scout a point guard if his team already has 3 really good ones, or if he knows he won't be able to develop the player into a good player?

Don't ask what sort of Chunks they are, you probably don't want to know. Blowing Chunks since Season 4!

I think that's logical but not necessarily a good trade off between resources and playability.

I think the best we can get in the short term is to shift the draft system to some sort of weekly interaction/report.

I'm not especially technically minded but I'd guess that's going to involve a hefty increase in forms being handled by the server anyway (not including transfers).
Instead of submitting three line ups a week plus training, you'd be submitting three line ups plus training plus a scouting brief.
The scouting brief also needs to have a default setting, for those clubs that don't fill it in.

I guess creating a draft in the beginning of the season gives a good chance for a league full of friends to trade info. It prolly would be pretty hard on the servers to keep updating it every week. Perhaps giving you a 3 day window with your draft points at the end of the season to scout the players you want. What happens to the people that can not log on? They will get random scouting?

hmm, the trading info thing pretty much kills the week-by-week reveal idea dead :-(

Excuse me,why I should reveal to someone that I've found a great player for the future, with the risk that someone picks him before than me?There could be some problems only in the case of multi-accounts,but that is punished....

Why would you not share information among 3 players in the league, if you know the others wouldn't get it.

It's too open to abuse.
