I think that the draft order was edited like that in the beginning, and it demanded much more effort than today's system. If you wanted to change the order of the original #1 player of your draft and put him on #48, that meant 48 clicks... for just one player...
I think the best would be the possibility of just write down the order of each player...

Well I'd rather have to click 48 times for one player (how often would that be though?) than drag 10+ players from top to bottom (which is more often the case).

Edit: Granted that I would need to move a player from #1 to #48, why not then just add 2 more buttons, one to send the player all the way to the top and the other all the way down. You'd have 4 buttons in total:

1) all the way up
2) one place up
3) one place down
4) all the way down

Dragging is way more easyer. What if you have to click 10 players from top to bottom, averaging 42 clicks per player, that is 420 clicks for 10 players. Thatˇs absurd!

What if you could select multiple players and choose to move them one spot or all the way up/down?

In my case, I had 15 players I needed to drag from top to bottom. Because the list is long I had to wait for the browser to scroll. When I got to the bottom I had to make sure to put them in the right place. Finally, after up and down, back and forth 15 times I clicked submit. But it took too long so it timed out and I had to do EVERYTHING over again.

I just think it would've been much faster if I could've selected the ones that I wanted to put at the bottom, send them all down, and make slight adjustments there.

clicking even 1000 times is easier than dragging.

Open another window. Whenever you are ready to submit, click on something on the other window. If you are logged out. Log in again and then submit on the first window. I use it when translating something long.

Well that does solve the problem of being logged out, but it still doesn't make the process less cumbersome.

Yeah, why not have both so that those who like to drag can drag, those who like to click, click, and those who like to do both, do both.

Yahoo Fantasy leagues use a dual system (dragging or selecting position) for the lineup of players, and from my experience draggging is way faster and failsafe selecting specific positions sometimes leads to assigning a position twice so you cant submit...

I think if the dropdown boxscore could somehow be suppressed, dragging would be perfect.
