I imagine it also depends on the type of perimeter defenses he's been facing (which is, I guess, also indirectly related to the quality of the shots he's getting).

however it must be a lot of coincidence if his team is always facing the best SG defenders (and maybe 3-2 and 1-3-1 zones) and all the other good shooters in bb face worse defenders. this might happen during one game maybe 3 or 4, but all season would be a lot of coincidence...
Well, if it is heavily dependent on the team defense rating and not so much of the individual defensive rating of the SG that's guarding him, that situation can be explained with people simply loading perimeter defenses against him. I imagine this is easily checked by looking at the actual games.
Plus, 6 games is a pretty small sample, and don't forget that a stellar 3pt shooter will only make, say, 45% of his 3pt shots
