It seems plenty opaque from the news post, but I imagine that we should have better questions when we actually see the scouting in action.

Or am I misreading? Will we spend the 10(?) points to see the kids at the combine during the ASG, and yet not see any results from that expenditure until the end of the season? Or will we be able to pick and choose based on this information?

Do you think this unfairly penalizes new teams that start in the middle of the season, or will they get a similar boost as before?

You will be able to see the information as you scout.

That I do not know about. Remember that the players will be ranked in order, so that can be helpful.

Does "Player" = "Points" now on the training page? So If I scout 1 player per week it is actually 1 point per week and thus 14 points per season? Is it silly that you can't spend as much money as you want and scout everyone?

You can buy up to 56 points a season - 14 x 4


And points do not "carry over" from one season to the next, correct? If you don't spend them, they're gone?

I'm inclined to agree with you, and that the limit should then be 96 points instead of 56.

Though why anyone would want to scout a 1* or 2* player twice is beyond me.

That's the idea - you wont be able to scout everyone fully, so you'll need to select where to direct your resources.

Also remember you'll be able to pay to "attend" the combine and get all the player's age/height.

From the News:

At the start of each season (for Season 13, later in the season) the draft page will be available with a set of baseline rankings. These rankings are done based upon your coaching staff's very rough assessment of the talent of the player, based on a combination of the current skills and the talent of each player, but as in real life, the ranking will be imperfect, and some players will even be ranked very inaccurately. You will have to invest further in scouting these players to find some hidden gems and expose some talent for being over-hyped. Each team will have its own baseline rankings, but the amount of uncertainty in each set of rankings will be the same.
