but a better thing is to NOT train them on rebounds,if they are not able to play in the Sf position


You mean because of the salary impact, right?

I think rebounding does more than just what you see in the boxscore. And this goes to guards, not just SFs and inside players.

But for sure, especially on high level players, there is a salary impact. The only question is if the impact is worth it. I personally think it can be.

As for the potential cap, maybe there is an impact. We do not know yet. Although if you have the proof on this, it will save me some time. ;-)

Personally I think that salary impact of rebound doesn't worth it

The actual coach of the South African U21,that I help being a scout for him,trained the starter PG in the Italian U21 team some seasons ago.His Pg had only 7 in potential,but was able to have enough primary skills to be a so important part of the team due to the lack in inside skills that allow him to avoid the cap potential,while other players of his age with the same potential weren't able to grow during the season.And as you know, salary and potential cap are related,so the skills that rasie more the salary for a role,have an impact on the cap.Among the inside skills,rebound and Sb are the only skills that have an impact on the salary of a guard,so they had also an impact on potential cap

I am not convinced this is because of his rebounding. It could also be that he had a very high sub-level of potential. And yes, for various reasons, I am starting to become a believer in sub-levels on potential. In fact, the more data I gather, the more sure I am of it.


And as you know, salary and potential cap are related,


I really have trouble with that one. I mean, it is certainly a possibility, but I can think of others. Certainly, since both are based on skills it is not surprising that there seems to be a relation. Whether there is or not is a question that remains to be answered (at least, by my estimation).

As for this part, I am not sure, either. For sure it has an impact that is not negligible. And usually the argument I see for this is you do not see a big difference in the guard's rebounding stats even if he wins the rebounding battle.

But what if - the effect of winning the rebounding battle gives you more than what the guard's stats say? What if it also has a trickle down effect on all your other players... In fact, this is my personal speculation on how they implemented "boxing out".

I don't know, maybe even with that, it is still not enough to justify the salary.

That is the point.Your thought is right(and was more true with the old GE),but is still not enough to justify the salary,as you can't economically afford levels in Js,Od.Jr,etc...

P.S. It exists sub-level in potential,but however a 7 potential with good sub levels,with high rebound,doesn't have room for enough primary skills to be in the italian U21

You are probably right, I am just not 100% convinced yet. As for potential sub-levels, I think I am pretty convinced.
