Generally speaking, there is already a small range of opinions regarding the appropriate skill distribution from experienced coaches in the FAQ
(144856.35). (See the bottom of the first listing for links to more viewpoints). I'm sure others will be willing to continue this ongoing debate, but I have found the listings in the FAQ to be a fairly representative sample of the advice I have seen from different coaches.
One particular area that seems to have changed since the FAQ was written, is that many coaches are putting a heavier focus in defense, which I understand is related to changes in the game engine. For that reason alone, I would enjoy seeing some recommendations from experienced coaches taking this factor into account. I see many people also recommending to slam defense before leveling stats, but taking new information about the elastic effect into account, I can see why a person training a top player may prefer to rotate training from the start.
To add to rubbercube's question, does anyone already have an idea of the perfect target skills for each position? I would of course prefer players in the 70 skill point range since most of us can't afford the enormous salaries.
