Yes but 5th place could also be a choice. You could try not to finish 5th by tanking and take the risk of a relegation series and finish 6th.

The point is, you can plan on where you intend to finish.

That is not the point. Something needs to act as a deterrent so teams don't go into debt.

Even in real life, business transaction accounts earn you jack all in interest, next to almost 0 due to the high volume of transactions on these accounts. Whereas if you go into an overdraft, you pay a large amount of interest so people don't overdraft if they can avoid it.

This game is not about investing your money in a term deposit for 6 months for interest!

last season two teams tanked to get fifth placed in our league, which ended in a doube walkover betwen those teams and at least another one walkover to lose the point differential ;) So both planned to get 6th, and done a lot to reach it and there was still a fifth place - and not such a nice sitution for the other teams.

I don't think that the times the teams get in debt by option and the tax doesn't help to recover from debt.
Last season I ended in 5th place with around 300k in bank and in the beggining of this season I was -500K.

I didn't choose to be in debt and the tax would avoid this in any way, just anoy because I had to wait more to be back from red.

No. When you are in debt you must take a loan to pay players etc. When you have money, you just have them and you need them to be ready for use in a second, so no banking procedures could delay something. So no interest. Imagine it like that. :)

I think there is no logic in paying a tax if a team is in debt when the teams do not earn any interest when they are full of money.
If a team pays a tax when in debt it should receive interests when it has money.

NO
If a team is in debt there is something worng in his economical financial management.Taxes are a system to force a manager to change this situation

So when a team has lots of money something is right and that manager should receive interests on the money he has.

Maybe a team ending in 5th place instead of 6th or 7th and go on red because of that is not wrong management, is just bad luck...

5th position in championship is a problem that have to be solved by BBs...but this isn't a reason to help the managers who have a wrong economical management

I keep thinking that ending up in 5th with $300k cannot be understood as bad management compared to ending in 6th or 7th with $0 to $100k, even thought the teams that end in 6/7th place can start the next season with better economical balance.

For many teams figthing for 4th is much worse than just loose matchs on purpose to end in 6/7th. Sometimes even ending in 4th and making an additional playoff match is worse than ending in 6/7th and making 2 or 3 more games.

I think that salaries should be cut to 50%, or something like this, when teams do not have official matchs.

This is just my 2 cents.

I would prefer that the scrimmages among 5th teams of both the conference will give a definite amount on money, based on the division, instead
